About the Job

Our client has a requirement for Senior Middleware SME for a six month contract opportunity. The position is located in Mississauga.

The successful candidate will be responsible for working within the change management guidelines to install, configure, deploy and support Web Sphere WAS 6, 7, ND and XS environments. They will act as the middleware SME assigned to projects, apply and implement the middleware solutions throughout the dev to prod stages, prepare the detailed design and liaise between various other teams.


Responsibilities:

•Design and configure the desired assets in WebSphere for projects and applications.
•Engage in business projects to configure the runtime environment and troubleshooting the Application. Diagnose and resolve issues that arise in the WAS infrastructure (application, environment, hardware, performance, etc…)
•Participate in performance testing and tuning exercises of WAS solutions
•Maintain and analyze server performance
•Coordinate and schedule environment upgrades
•System capacity planning and maintenance
•Provide consultation and analysis to identify process improvements to reduce test time, cost and improve quality/accuracy/efficiency
•Interact with both internal and external technical community as well as interact with Infrastructure Architects on large business project


Requirement or Qualifications:


Qualified Candidates will have:

MUST HAVES:

•Must have experience with supporting the development lifecycle from; design , development , pre-production , production , implementation , post-implementation support
•Must have experience working in a large enterprise class IT environment
•Applied experience with Middleware technologies, such as ND, XS, IHS, Apache, LDAP, ITCAM
•Applied experience with deploying and troubleshooting J2E Applications or WebServices.
•Excellent knowledge of and experience with various WAS standards
•Applied experience using various scripting languages to automate IT processes
•Excellent knowledge of SSL and PKI technologies including configuring SSL, security domains, CSIv2, managing keystores and troubleshooting security related issues
•Excellent Unix (AIX is preferred) experience
•WebSphere 6.1/ 7.0
•Script Language (JACL / JYTHON)
•5+ years of experience designing /building and deploying WebSphere-based
•Strong troubleshooting skills
•Strong knowledge planning/ maintenance
•Solid understanding of SOA -based infrastructure
•Strong understanding of SDLC
•Hands-on experience, analyzing performance data (Logs/ Dumps)
•Comfortable in speaking with small and large groups, convincing and presenting to Senior Executives/ stakeholders, business representatives and Senior Architects
•Comfortable speaking, getting “buy-in” and presenting to Peers, developers, testers and other support groups on the same operational level.
•Comfortable with working in a rapidly changing, technically complex environment
•Ability to provide technical guidance to junior team members
•Thorough understanding of PMLC and SDLC processes
•Follow-through on issues until a resolution is determined
•Attitude to take “ownership” for items that we are responsible for
•Experience in creating project detailed designs for J2E applications.
•Thorough understanding of TCP/IP, network appliances and networking concepts
•Security savvy (experience with vulnerability reviews and understanding of various hacking techniques)
•Project management experience (nice to have PMP certification)
•Ability to switch perspective from Operational level to more Tactical and Strategic levels. (Understanding of and contributing to the bigger picture)
•Flexibility to work off hours (potentially weekends / after business hours)

•Experience with WESB, Datapower, Portal, Pega, MQ, Filenet, Cognos


EDUCATION:

•Technical University degree (Master’s level preferred)
•IBM certification’s (must have for WebSphere, AIX preferred)
