Our client has a requirement for Applications Programmer III for a 6 months Contract opportunity. The positions are located in Toronto, Ontario

Job Description

We are looking for an Applications Programmer with 5+ years experience in the development and support of IT systems. This candidate must have excellent communication skills since this is a production support role (4/5 and above).


Department Overview:

The Risk Valuation Reporting (RVR) group is seeking an individual to supports our various Market Risk production applications and risk reports.


Experience in the field:

5+ years experience in the development and support of IT systems


Job Description:

Provide production support for our internal applications. Some responsibilities include:

- Provide Application and System support including tuning, configuration and user account administration.
- Debug applications and issue resolutions
- Manage incident tickets and comply with change procedures
- Perform Root Cause Analysis.
- Monitor the health of our server and production applications


Education/Accreditations:

- University degree in computer science or related field (math, engineering)

- Excellent organizational, problem-solving and interpersonal skills
- Must be adaptable, professional, flexible, a quick learner, and have a strong customer service mentality
- Ability to solve technical issues quickly and independently
- Ability to liaise professionally with staff at all levels of the organization

Must have Technical Skills/Experience:

- Strong application development and support experience
- Extensive knowledge of MS SQL Server 2005 or 2008
- Expert level knowledge and experience developing, modifying and maintaining SQL Server tables, views, stored procedures and triggers.
- Strong knowledge of ETL systems and methodologies
- Strong working knowledge with Microsoft Excel spreadsheets and VBA Scripting


Nice to have Skills:

- Financial/Banking Industry experience
- Knowledge of securities trading and financial systems
- Microsoft certification
