Our client has a requirement for a Construction Project Manager role for a Permanent Role. The position is located in Calgary, Alberta.

Role
In support of the Director, Project Management will monitor, review and advise/recommend on overall process of projects on a frequent basis. To provide technical and management functions throughout the design, pre-construction, construction and post construction phases of projects. To liaise with other internal departments, outside consultants and contractors and to assist the Director in leading cross functional teams on various aspects of construction projects. To ensure projects are on schedule and within budget. To arbitrate, negotiate and advise internally and externally including with government agencies. To establish new business partnerships. To assist with the updating or revision of corporate policies as required. To protect Cadillac Fairview’s contractual position and ensure finished project meets contracted standards.
People relationships are critical in this role and include: executives and management, all departments involved in development projects, consultants, architects, engineers, municipal staff, tenants and Construction Managers. Project budgets ranging typically from $1 million to $100 million.

Responsibilities
- Review consultants’ reports, invoices, project documents, correspondence, development information and leases; recommends payments
- Monitor scheduled events, project milestones and submission of required information
- Schedule activities for completion of projects and works on a day-to-day basis to handle unexpected requests and deadlines
- Maintain strong working relationship with the internal and external project team.
- Work with the consultants to negotiate credits and/or extras for revised scope of work and to assist with implementing a value engineering process when necessary.
- Organize meetings and meets with contractors/consultants to review scope of contract and impact of alternatives in reducing time and costs
- Prepare pro-forma/budget/schedules.
- Assist with the selection of consultants/contractors
- Prepare Monthly Project Status Reports
- Support Corporate Internal Audit Processes
- Stay current with community issues and construction and related technologies
- Be familiar with, understand and apply client’s policies and procedures, federal, provincial and municipal legislation and regulations (e.g. Health & Safety, Environmental).
- Understand that people relationships are critical in this role and include: executives and management, all departments involved in development projects, consultants, architects, engineers, municipal staff, tenants and Construction Managers.
Requirements
- An undergraduate degree in Engineering, Architecture or Construction/Project Management or Technical Diploma or Certificate in similar disciplines combined with relevant experience.
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant and progressive experience in one of the following areas; construction (both field and office), real estate development, architecture or other engineering disciplines.
- LEED and or PMP accreditation would be an asset.
- Proficiency in the use of Word, Excel, Power Point, Microsoft Project or Primavera
- Sound financial and business acumen
- Strong written and verbal communications skills; effective at delivering difficult messages with tact and diplomacy
- An ability to deliver strong presentations in a confident and credible manner
- A proactive and perceptive outlook to achieve results.

- Effective problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills with the ability to influence others
- Effective prioritization skills with proven success in managing multiple priorities with varying deadlines

- Solid working knowledge of the Building Code and Industry related technology.
- The ability to conduct regular site visits as required, including climbing ladders, exposed to noise, dust and/or external elements. (Hard Hat and Safety boots required).
- The ability to travel frequent as this may be required.
