Job Description

Our client has a requirement for a Java Developer for a 5 month contract opportunity. The position is located in Toronto.

Role

Reporting to the Application Delivery Manager (ADM) - Corporate, we are looking for a Senior Java Developer to be integral members of the team developing a new application in Java within the Spring framework.

 

This is a hands-on role and requires a self starter who thrives in fast-paced, results driven team environment. The incumbent possess strong web application and troubleshooting skills with the ability to work with team members to execute on new projects in large complex transaction-heavy environments.

 

Responsibilities                    

• Proactively participate in project development and new initiatives of application improvement in maintainability, reliability and process automation including documentation as required
• Support both Hybris and Adobe applications
• Investigate and resolve high severity application defects reported by internal and external customers aligned with business requirements
• Participate in optimization to achieve more scalable, reliable, secure, maintainable, extendable, and adaptable applications through effective refactoring, tuning and building solid and reusable frameworks
• Participate in architectural design and QA test strategy review, ensuring the design is aligned with industry best practices
• Flexible to provide project and application support at non-business hours when required

Requirements or Qualifications

• Over 6 years of software development experience with a minimum of 4 years programming experience in J2EE applications
• 2+ years of object modeling experience using UML including use case, class, sequence, collaboration, activity diagrams
• Excellent knowledge and hands-on experience in J2EE technologies, development tools and application servers: Servlet/JSP, Spring Application Framework 3 (Spring DI, AOP, POJO service and Spring Security), JPA, Jasper Reports, JMS (and MQ), XML/HTML /CSS, AJAX, Ant, Maven, JUnit, Log4J, Eclipse (or other similar IDEs) and SVN, Tomcat application servers
• Excellent understanding of the software development life cycle and process via agile programming practices including Scrum and Continuous Integration
• Working knowledge in resolving performance issues of large-scale web J2EE applications
• Experience working in Linux and Windows platforms
• Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
• Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Excited about current online trends including Social Media and mobile
• Degree and/or Diploma in Computer Science and/or Engineering or related field

 

Asset / Nice-to-Have Skills

• Programming experience with JasperReports is advantageous
• Integration experience between the Spring Framework and Active Directory is a plus.
