Job Description
Our client has a requirement for an Applications Architect for a 3 month contract opportunity. The position is located in Toronto.

Role
  • Participate in solution design activities for project
  • Liaise with business and technology stakeholders and team members to get input for architecture
  • Develop all architectural artefacts as per Client’s architecture framework for checkpoint 2 and 3 (i.e.Logical and Physical architecture)
  • Develop all the artefacts covering Application and provide alignment to Information architecture domain.
  • Develop Enterprise Architecture based on the recommended Corporate Enterprise Architecture Review Requirements for 3/N-tier solution using custom .Net based tools and technologies.
  • Work closely with cluster architect in leading the architecture governance process.
  • The consultant will also be responsible for following-up with any action items, updates, and responding to any feedback received during the governance process.
  • All artefacts must comply with Client architectural standards/templates.
  • Participate in discussions with corporate security branch (CSB), centre of excellence for accessibility and Information Privacy and Achieves (IPA) office to ensure project requirements are in compliance with all applicable standards.
  • Liaise with IT specialists, unit leads and work closely with project team members and relevant stakeholders.
  • Use of Client mandated tools and templates for documentation throughout SDLC.
  • Timely identification and resolution of problems/issues faced throughout SDLC.
  • Manage risks and liaise with other project teams to coordinate project interdependencies.
  • Documentation of all artefacts in a shared project library.
  • Conduct and/or participate in walkthroughs at each project milestone in accordance with project schedule.
  • Report status to and follow overall direction from the Project Manager and/or IT Lead. Conduct research and providing input into the development of presentations for staff and executives.
  • Effective knowledge transfer to staff at all stages of this assignment
  • Complete work and achieve milestones within the assigned deadlines;
  • Notify the Project Manager in writing of any issues or other material concerns related to the assigned deliverables as soon as they become aware of them
  • Submit deliverables for approval as they are completed;
  • Comply with the Client’s security procedures and practices;
  • Comply with the Client’s architecture/technology standards and best practices;
  • Comply with the Client’s Conflict of Interest and Confidentiality Guidelines
  • Provide knowledge and skill transfer to designated staff
  • Comply with the Client’s I&IT Directive, Operational Policy on the I&IT Project Gateway Process, and other applicable Guidelines, Standards and Procedures.

Requirements or Qualifications
  • Knowledge of how the Architecture Governance Process works, including Gating/Checkpoints and their significance. The successful candidate should have previous experience in guiding project through the Architecture Governance Process.
  • Knowledge/Experience in producing Enterprise Application/Information architecture artifacts and how they provide an enterprise view to the application being architected / designed.
  • Knowledge/Experience in architecting 3/N-tier application and information architecture.
  • Knowledge/Experience in system analysis, solution design and use case driven modeling.
  • Knowledge in documenting the Architecture using the Unified Modeling Language (UML).
  • Excellent negotiation and consensus building skills.
  • Knowledge of enterprise architecture methodologies, processes and all applicable standards
  • Knowledge of well accepted Application and Information architecture patterns
  • Knowledge/experience in application and information modeling with extensive use of well accepted design patterns for Conceptual, Logical and Physical architecture.
  • Knowledge/experience in Data Modeling, including Conceptual, Logical and Physical data and dimension models.
  • Demonstrated Experience in the analysis and planning for the modernization of large complex multi-platform, multi-tier Information Technology Systems.
  • Experience working in programs consisting of multiple highly inter-dependent projects.
  • Awareness of emerging IT trends and directions.
  • Proven ability to manage to successful completion an assignment of this nature, magnitude and complexity, and achieve the results on schedule and within budget.
  • Experience working on projects within a multi-client/partner environment.
  • Proven experience facilitating the resolution of complex IT issues related to architecture domain.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills; verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Expert skill with MS Office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Visio.
  • Knowledge with SDLC and structured methodologies waterfall and iterative.
  • Demonstrable skills and experience with documenting deliverables outlined in Deliverables section
  • A team player with the ability to coordinate multiple projects with competing priorities and strict deadlines.
  • Experience in dealing with system solutions related to funding calculations, financial information management and web based n-tier technology implementation.
  • Experience with TRA's, PIA's and Security Systems
