Job Description

Our client has a requirement for a Data Conversion Specialist for 12 months contract. The position is located in Toronto, Ontario

Summary

Our client is looking for an Organized, Independent, and Proactive, Hands on ITIL Certified Senior Technical Lead with Development background and strong knowledge and demonstrated experience in Data Migration, Conversion, Inventory, Profiling, and Cleansing.

You will have to reverse-engineer old and new undocumented database formats to extract data, and then transform it into something useful.

Our development cycle is Agile, and data conversions are frequent – you will be able to see your work in production, with plenty of feedback, shortly after completing it.

Knowledge & Skills

Must have:

• Demonstrated experience of successful implementation of Medium to Large size Data Migration Program / Project;
• 5-10 years demonstrated experience in Data Migration / Conversion from legacy to distributed open systems;
• 3-5 years of demonstrated experience in Data Warehousing;
• 3-5 years of demonstrated experience in Information Management, Data Governance;
• Demonstrated experience in Data Modeling and Architecture;
• Strong knowledge of Oracle, SQL, PL/SQL, MS-SQL, Java, XML, UNIX Shell Scripting;
• Post secondary education in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent;
• Strong command of English language;
• Strong interpersonal skills;
• Experience with utilizing system development lifecycle for large scale projects and system development methodologies such as Agile, Lean, SCRUM, and Extreme Programming;
• Great organizational skills and ability to manage several projects at once.

 

Nice to have:

• Demonstrated experience applying agile methods in a project management environment;
• General awareness of current technologies;
• Experience in integrating/developing tools to improve quality such as continuous integration, deployment, configuration management, test automation, Behavior Driven Development;
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Visio, Project;
• Demonstrated understanding of software architecture design and patterns such as SOA, OO, Analysis and Design, Component Architecture, Event/Message Driven;
• Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills
• Resource Responsibilities:
• Lead and coordinate all related Data Migration technical activities across multiple projects/teams;
• Advise specialized SMEs on best practices within current technical and organizational constrains;
• Interact with business associates to clarify their requirements;
• Validate effort estimates provided by a team members;
• Monitor and adjust project work related activities;
• Raise issues, and impediments to Delivery Manager;
• Provide required Status report(s);
• Participate in project related meeting(s), including Daily Stand Ups;
• Manage and continuously improve project related work flow;
• Re-prioritize project related work tickets to synchronize project related deliverables with the program;
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• May be required to carry a pager;
• ITIL or similar IT Service Management Certification.
