About the Job
Our client has a requirement for business project coordinator for a 12 month contract opportunity. The position is located in downtown Toronto.

Role
The Operational Excellence group is an internal consulting function within the firm that identifies, oversees and supports the delivery of the firm’s most strategic projects. This team collaborates with all of business units, nationally, to ensure:
  • The right things get done and are aligned (enterprise portfolio management)
  • The firm’s most strategic initiatives are managed and governed (program management)
  • The firm strengthens its ability to execute projects and innovate processes (project, process design and change management capabilities)
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for managing, developing, coordinating and implementing projects across the Operational Excellence team.
  • In this role, the Sr. Business Project Control Officer will work closely with Senior Project Managers, Program Managers or in a PMO team.
 
Responsibilities
Project Management
  • Participate in medium to large-sized strategic projects
  • Co-ordinate and manage projects effectively and ensure they are delivered on time, on budget, and to agreed quality standards
  • Participate in defining project scope and champion stakeholder needs; develop comprehensive business requirements, project charter and establish key deliverables and success metrics
  • Manage change requests to scope, requirements, and timeline - accountable to identify/raise project issues and drive the resolution of delivery issues in strong collaboration with technology team
  • Identify and mitigate project delivery, schedule, and operational risks
  • Regularly communicates / interfaces and builds strong relationships with all appropriate stakeholders and project team members
  • Identify and propose project management process/tool improvement opportunities that complement the project
  • Participate in status meetings, report on status, communicate status as appropriate
  • Identify, analyze and Escalate any issues, risks or changes as required
  • Help to manage overall budget – track budget to actuals and comply to on time within budget requirement
 
Business Analysis
  • Work with the project teams (including both business and technical staff), internal and external stakeholders to understand, gather information and synthesize findings into business requirements
  • Work with teams to perform the necessary level of business analysis on issues, conduct assessments and analyze business data
  • Planning and facilitating meetings, conducting interviews and running working sessions
  • Prepare various business related deliverables and presentations to assist governance bodies in decision making process
  • Assist with the development and generation of regular reporting and dashboards
  • Assist in business case development and assessment
  • Provide assistance in developing strategies, solutions and business processes
  • Provide input into project / resource planning activities
  
Requirements or Qualifications
  • University degree or equivalent work experience
  • Min. 5 years of experience in a projectized or consulting environment with relevant experience
  • Min. 5 years business process analysis experience
  • Ability to manage project work while maintaining quality and meeting stakeholder expectations
  • Solid understanding of project management approaches, tools and phases of the project lifecycle
  • Solid understanding of business analysis approaches and tools
  • Demonstrated experience successfully working with business analysis methodologies and performance measurements
  • Ability to work effectively in a highly complex, matrixed partnership and work closely with all levels of a project team
  • Ability to confirm objectives and drive them according to plan with a minimum oversight
  • Ability to present complex findings in a clear and concise manner (written and verbal)
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask, establish priorities and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to handle ambiguity and rapid change
  • Energetic self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment that is detailed oriented, highly organized with strong problem solving, business analysis, communication and presentation skills
  • Proven experience with identifying improvement opportunities, defining and implementing new processes
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Technology, SharePoint
 
Assets
  • CAPM or PMP (Project Management) Certification
  • PMO experience for medium to large sized projects or programs
