Our client has a requirement for Programmer/Developer for a 1 year contract opportunity.  The position is located in Toronto.

Role
The Programmer/Developer will specialize in application packaging and certification to develop Microsoft System Installer (MSIs) while following standard process and procedure activities that contribute to the day to day application certification service deliverables. The Programmer/Developer ensures components for the creation of MSIs are received, provides updates to tracking and reporting metrics. The Programmer/Developer will follow established processes, standard procedures to deliver in a timely fashion, MSIs under the guidance of the application certification team process and technical leads. Works in a team environment support the team’s goals of desktop application certification service.

The Programmer/Developer will collectively be responsible and accountable for the preparation, development, review and submission of all project artefacts. The overall project tasks/activities may include but not limited to the following:
  • Review, analyze and modify product installation scripts including encoding, testing, debugging and ensuring application certification services follow standard process and procedures for the installation of applications on desktops
  • Prepare scripts and MSI packages for an automated update toolset “Radia”
  • Convert business specifications into scripting instructions, design and code programs, create and execute test scenarios
  • Review and understanding source files, readme files to understand application scripting requirements
  • Launch application and test to ensure successful operation
  • Install applications using manual methods and recording requirements for automation
  • Uninstall application ensuring complete removal of all components from the system
  • Assist in quality insurance activities ensuring scripts operating as expected
  • Where required, assist with UAT session for clients to test packaged desktop applications
  • Creat uninstall scripts for Multi environments Windows 2000, and XP
  • Work with QA to resolve install, and uninstall issues
  • Provide timely feedback to team members on matters that could delay the project implementation schedule
  • Act as the subject matter expert for the creation and support of the MSI packages created under the standard desktop application certification service
  • Directly following up with requestors for any missing information ex. Documentation, special instructions, etc.
  • The Consultant's responsibilities will also include some or all of the following development tasks:
  • assist with unit, system, acceptance and performance testing;
    • support systems implementation;
    • ensure development documentation requirements are met
    • investigate and resolving system problems, and
    • post-implementation support.

Qualifications
  • Knowledge and understand of Operating System Windows XP and Windows 7.
  • Understanding of the registry
  • Knowledge of using VMware, Desktop and know how to create a VMware session.
  • Knowledge of AD and Group Policies.
  • 5+ years of experience creating MSIs specifically for a RADIA deployment environment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of HP’s Radia tool.
  • Knowledge of Networks, IP addressing.
  • Knowledge of how to re-image a PC.
  • Detailed knowledge and skill levels to specific technology and techniques outlined in the attached skill matrix. The level for each item is appropriate for this role.
  • The Consultant must be able to demonstrate the ability to deal tactfully with people and have excellent interpersonal communication and writing skills
