Our client has a requirement for an Intermediate Business Systems Analyst for a 6 month contract opportunity. The position is located in Toronto.


Role:

The successful candidate is required to understand new business requirements, conduct business analysis, undertake QA testing and help streamline existing processes to improve efficiency. They will prepare data mapping and perform testing of applications. The candidate will be required to develop in-depth knowledge of applications and their interdependences. They will also analyze and manipulate large data sets. The Business Systems Analyst must demonstrate leadership and partnership skills by interacting with other technology teams within organization to solve problems and deliver solutions. They will take a leadership role in working with and liaising with business partners, other Technology Solutions organizations and external vendors to define the business and technical requirements at the program level; understand, document and interpret complex user requirements.


Responsibilities include:

•Review, analyze and evaluate detailed business and functional requirements, documentation, process flows and data models to contribute to the development of project plans including project charter, project deliverables, cost/benefits analysis, time line estimates, scope and control.
•Develop use cases, defining and documenting user procedures and workflows, and how each class of user interacts with east system function.
•Ensure Business Recovery Plans are in place.
•Integrate technical solutions with the business environment, recognizing systems design and data interdependencies and reusability.
•Establish appropriate security levels for processes, information exchange and system implementation.
•Define, review and influence standards and quality measures/metrics.
•Assist in the development of conversion and implementation strategies. Conduct pre and post implementation reviews, ensuring all technical solutions have met business requirements. Supports system implementation and production readiness by liaising with change management, IT architecture and desktop standards, and the business.
•Develop test plans, test cases, perform testing. Provide user documentation, user training, and post implementation support.
•Perform requirement gathering and verification from multiple lines of business
•Perform analysis and translate business, system and data requirements into technical specifications for application configuration
•Create and maintain business / system / functional requirement documentation
•Create and maintain technical and production support documentation
•Create and execute test strategies, test plans and test cases
•Create project plans for project and maintenance implementations
•Track and follow up on issues, decisions and actions as required within multiple assignments
•Take ownership of a task and follow-up to completion with minimum supervision
•Follow Change Control process, prepare estimates for the planned tasks
•Support business users during Business Acceptance Testing phase
•Perform data validation and analysis
•Prepare system deployment plan and support procedures
•Co-ordinate deployment or upgrade activities with multiple teams including infrastructure, vendor, development and business validation teams
•Co-ordinate production problem tracking and resolution with multiple teams as required until the problem is resolved
•Collaborate with business leaders, IT professionals, and vendors ensuring that management is kept informed of project status and that problems and issues are escalated appropriately and clearly communicated
•Provide ongoing application support to the various business units


Requirement or Qualifications:


Must Have:

•5-7 years experience working on application development projects
•Experience in financial services (i.e. retail lending, fixed income trading)
•Minimum 3 years of experience working in an IT Business Analyst role with proven requirements gathering, business analysis/verification
•Experience in QA and testing-minimum 3 years of experience in testing, test strategies, test plans and test cases
•Strong documentation skills, specifically writing SDLC documents (min 4 years)
•Very strong Systems Development Lifecycle (SDLC) experience (min 4 years). Candidate must understand full lifecycle process
•Excellent analytical, decision making and problem solving skills
•Strong presentation and communications skill
•Excellent listening, written and verbal skills
•Collaborative team building skills
•Strong conflict resolution skills
•Demonstrated aptitude with HP Quality Centre or similar defect tracking tool
•Strong technical knowledge of distributed applications, infrastructure/network/database components of n-tier application architecture and design in context of a business application
◦Understanding of object oriented programming
◦Understanding of .NET architecture and programming
◦Experience with web services and XML
◦Experience with SQL programming and data analysis in database or datamart environment
•Proficiency in MS Office tools
•Bachelors or Master Degree in Computer Science preferred

•Experience with Project Management methodologies
