Application Lead - Rollout

Job Description

Our client has a requirement for Application Lead for a 12 month contract opportunity. The position is located in Toronto.


IT Delivery, Automotive Infrastructure Program – AMS/CEP Deployment


Position Summary

As an Development Lead you will be member of the IT Deployment and Sustainment Team responsible for the efficient rollout and support of the Automotive Management System (AMS) Application and Infrastructure to the 500 Client Retail locations in a complex multi tier environment. The EAA must have advanced problem solving and communication skills to effectively deal with issues from Tier 1 and 2 support teams and to promote collaboration between the business and IT as well as the 3rd party vendors.


Responsibilities:

Incident Management/ Service Pack Updates

•Triage production incidents/alerts and participate in problem resolution
•Coordinate with the test team to test new service packs and update test environments
•Triage uncategorized issues and ensure the appropriate actions are taken
Deployment
•Deploy Costar/Activant Service Pack (via a specific rollout process)
•Maintain Costar Build Book
•Provide guidance and recommendation to optimize the rollout and upgrade process


Application Architecture & Configuration

•Be an expert on Costar Configuration
•Understand Costar Architecture and its current integration within Client
•Assess impact of future releases of Costar based on the current Client implementation Vendor Relationship
•Act as a key contact between Client and the 3rd party vendors

•Provide guidance on operations and performance tuning of the application and platform

Tasks:

Deploy Costar/Activant Service Pack

Interface with 3rd party vendors (Costar / Activant)

Triage SCOM alerts

Understand Costar Architecture.

Train other staff on deployment procedures.

Develop tools to automate tasks to make deploying and maintaining the system easier.

Review defects and co-ordinate work with Vendors.

Review defects and understand if it is a configuration issue with Client, Costar, Activant.

Work with the test team and make them aware of when Service Packs are coming.

Document and communicate the actions that are required for a deployment.

Understand the scope of work the vendors are tasked with and push back if you are given unreadable estimates.

Provide feedback to team on integration of Costar GA to Client. Risk/Impacts.

Act as ‘single point of contact’ for all technical application issues and requirements.

Obtain Subject Matter Expertise (SME) knowledge and support from the different business areas


Qualifications

Must Have:

•Ability to learn quickly and on the job
•College or University education in Computer Science, Business, Mathematics or equivalent

Nice to Have:

•Knowledge of Client environments, both production and test
•Knowledge of PVCS or similar code management tools
