Job Description

Our client has a requirement for Project Manager for a 12 month contract opportunity.  The position is located in Toronto.

Deliverables  
  • A working automated and integrated scheduling, cost control and risk management system using Primavera P6 v8.2 as the base product.
  • Project Management control processes and procedures as required.
  • Project budgetary, control, monitoring and reporting documentation.
  • Project schedule development, control, and monitoring.
  • Project schedule, work breakdown estimates, network and other related documentation.
  • Project plan development and execution documentation and related activities.
  • Project controls standards, templates and guidelines. 

Responsibilities 
  • Design and develop a new working model for project integration management including cost, schedule and resource planning.
  • Lead role in developing and documenting project controls standards and guidelines.
  • Lead role in selection, purchase, configuration and implementation of a new Project Management scheduling and cost control COTS application.
  • Lead role in selection, purchase, configuration and implementation of a new risk management COTS application.
  • Design and development of a systems integration model for cost, schedule, risk, project issues, documentation, SharePoint presence and project management system reporting including implementation of same.
  • Writing of procedures that document the process by which specific project management system elements are created or systems are used.
  • Lead role in the planning, analysis, and preparation of project budgetary, cost, status and progress reports and documentation.
  • Interface with Finance & Procurement departments for all current cost control, reporting and procurement activities.
  • Maintain & update current Cost Control/Scheduling/Reporting systems during the development phase of the new system and ensure seamless migration to the new system.
  • Lead role the preparation of project schedule, work breakdown estimates, and related activities.
  • Various administrative tasks, including recording meeting minutes and producing project correspondences. 

Mandatory Skills/Certifications 
  • Expert practical experience and working knowledge of Primavera P6 v6.
  • Experience implementing Primavera P6 and a cost management system in a PMO.
  • Experience implementing Project Management industry standard best practices as they apply to setting up a PMO.
  • Experience writing procedural control documents as would be found in a PMO for consistent application of tools, techniques and processes.
  • Experience with developing and analysing financial, technical and contractual documents related to large capital projects.
  • In depth knowledge of procurement practices as they relate to government and/or transit based organizations.
  • Practical experience and working knowledge of MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint.
  • Practical experience and working knowledge of MS Project.
  • Knowledge of IT industry and/or systems.
  • Experience in applying project management fundamentals to structure projects for success by managing scope, quality, budget, risks, issues, vendors, teams, and stakeholder relationships.
  • Prior experience (minimum of 5 years) working in an IT production, systems. development or engineering project environment
  • Must be proficient at problem solving and have the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Must have excellent analytical skills.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Must have experience creating RFI/RFP documents. 

Skills that are an asset
  • Bachelor/Master's Degree in Engineering/Project Management
