Job Description

Our client has a requirement for a The Software and Infrastructure Tester for contract role. The position is located in Toronto - Ontario.

Responsibilities

• Analyse requirements, design and detailed program specifications/use cases to ensure they are concise and testable.
• Participate in test planning and test coordination and test reporting Complete and obtain signoff for the master test plan for the project
• Coordinate testing operations with the project manager and test lead.
• Capture and execute the test scripts for load/stress testing using the HP Performance Centre v11 in test tool.
• Analyze and report the load/stress test results to Project Manager.
• Work with the Solution Vendor, Business Team members and Business Analyst to develop Test Plan, Test Scenarios, Test Cases and Test Scripts.
• Coordinate and perform the testing of the Solution (i.e. Functional, SIT, Performance, etc).
• Prepare and lead the User Acceptance Testing (UAT) performed by Business Client.
• Document identified defects and report to Project Team.  Track the defects through the Defect Life Cycle via HP Quality Centre v10.
• Acquire final sign-off of testing results from the appropriate Project Team members.
• Report test results to the Project Manager.
• Complete reports to the Project Manager.
• Prepare QA portion of the release notes.
• Attend meetings as required.
• Chair Test Team related meetings and prepare meeting materials
• Prepare testing strategies, plans, test cases, scenarios and test results documents;
• Execute various types of technical tests (unit, functional, integration, system, regression, performance (load/stress) and user acceptance testing);
• Analyze test results and create reports for Management as needed;
• Track problems, defects and issues within the project;
• Assure the quality of software delivered by the project team.

Qualifications & Experience

• University/Community College degree in Computer Science / Electronic Engineering or equivalent a definite asset
• Extensive experience with performance (load and stress) testing of web based applications
• Minimum of seven years of application testing and QA test experience in a project based web application environment
• Clear understanding of Business Requirements, Statement of Work, and Test Strategies as they apply to projects
• Strong knowledge of testing methodologies such as the 'V-model'
• Solid understanding of System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and other methodologies such as RUP
• Extensive experience in creating QA strategies for SDLC
• Experience in writing test documentation
• Experience in tracking issues and defects within a large project
• Solid experience in executing test cases, analyzing the test results and providing/presenting reports to Management
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently, as well as, within a team environment
• Certification in Software Quality Engineering or equivalent a definite asset

Technical Capabilities

• Demonstrated extensive experience using HP Performance Centre v11
• Demonstrated experience using HP Quality Centre v10 and HP QTP v10
• Demonstrated extensive QA and test experience in all facets of testing (unit, functional, integration, system, regression, penetration, performance and user acceptance testing) a definite asset
• Extensive experience in testing of Java based web application solutions in an IBM WebSphere environment preferred
• Thorough understanding of Web based application infrastructure environments
• Demonstrated expertise in the field of quality assurance, test planning, and test execution using the tools listed above
• Demonstrated working knowledge of Windows XP and MS Office Suite 2007
• Understanding of Database Technologies an asset
