Our client has a requirement for a Communication Specialist for a PERM opportunity.  The position is located in Toronto, ON.

Role

The Communications Specialist is responsible for developing and managing the corporate Communications Strategy and Plan, and Issues/Risk Management process, to support the client in achieving the strategic objectives in its Business Plan and the goals of the EMR Adoption Program.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage the Communications and Issues/Risk Management Strategy and Plan
  • Develop and manage an issues tracking process that captures and tracks to resolution issues that need to be addressed by management in a timely manner. This includes issues raised by stakeholders to senior management and Board members.
  • Develop, promote, maintain, and protect cohesive corporate identity and branding policies, standards and guidelines used in presentations, literature, employee communications and special events.
  • Ensure that all communication, internal and external, is of an appropriate high standard, and consistent with brand and key messages.
  • Develop the key messages and text-copy to be used in corporate communications materials and marketing communications materials, e.g., articles, website content, fact sheets, speeches, briefing notes, news releases, presentations, etc., and obtain approval from management as requierd
  • Plan and assist in the coordination of outreach events/engagement events, meetings and publications with internal areas and external partners.
  • Provide direction and support to product and services marketing function.
  • Disseminate approved communications via the agreed upon channels
  • Work with project delivery teams to prepare project communications updates.
  • Partner with communication media and providers and manage relationships and expectations.
  • Provide monthly budget and status reports to track progress as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements or Qualifications

  • At least 5 years in progressively senior roles in Marketing and/or Communications
  • Experience with social media communication
  • Background in Internet and/or technology-based solutions; healthcare or marketing solutions to the physician market
  • The ability to translate complex technical language and ideas into language easily comprehensible to non-specialists.
  • Experience working with a team on projects comprised of a wide range of integrated marketing activities
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Skill in writing for a variety of audiences.
  • Skill in writing and editing news and feature articles
  • Strong editing and proofreading skills
  • Experience in conducting research projects and documenting findings.
  • Skill in interviewing a variety of people and gathering and synthesizing information from many sources.
  • Experience in developing content for a variety of media
  • Proven ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholder groups with diverse needs; maintain quality of deliverables across a number of varied tasks and responsibilities
  • Interact with and support senior management
  • Work beyond regular hours is required according to the events or issues being managed.
  • Post-secondary education in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Business, or related area or equivalent experience
