We are currently looking for an IT
Infrastructure Program Manager to lead an enterprise computer services
transition for a Chicago, IL client. The candidate must have a solid
understanding of IT infrastructure in different domains (including
Windows/Cloud, Unix/Linux, Storage/backup, Automation, Command center,
messaging, Capacity management, and Database domains - candidate should
be technical enough but does not need to be hands-on). The ideal
candidate is a strong leader and manager who works well under pressure.
Initial interviews will be conducted by phone, followed by an in-person
in the client facility with our account team. Initial assignment term is
3 months but extensions are expected.
Skills required / preferred:
- 10 years experience with Microsoft Windows Server, Leadership, Cloud Application Frameworks and SAN/NAS Storage Architecture-
- Microsoft background managing Windows Operating systems and Virtualization technology – Hyper-V, Hypervisor, VmWare
- 10+ years’ management experience supporting computer infrastructure –
Windows 2003-2012, Unix, EMC, Linux, DNS, Active Directory, DHCP,
Hypervisor’s, Virtualization, and Citrix
- Experienced Project leadership skills leading technical teams with
Client transitions, Data Center transitions or large migration projects
- Understanding of Cloud Services- IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, VDI and how to
communicate these offerings to clients – all levels of the organization
from Technical Support to CEO
- Strong Leadership skills – leading large technical teams
- Experience with interfacing to Storage Technologies for SAN/NAS and Backups
- Knowledge of Vendor offerings/solutions for Cloud – AWS, Azure, etc. a plus
- Understanding of hardware and software monitoring tools such as Nagios, System Center, Xymon, SolarWinds
Profile, Key Responsibilities and qualifications:
- Lead, manage & coordinate global technical support teams to
provide complete clarity, structure, discipline & control across all
aspects of Cloud infrastructure and Client workload support.
- Proactively track delivery and technical team performance against
targets and customer service indicators, drive continuous improvement
and ensure non-compliant components and any systemic problems are
addressed/resolved promptly.
- Drive Innovation to resolve business challenges and sharing opportunities with our customers
- Deliver end to end Infrastructure support following ITIL Globally defined processes.
- Participate in account governance and service performance reviews.
- Establish and maintain clear operational communication channels with the technical staff, account teams and clients.
- Manage the internal and client relationships required to deliver service obligations.
- Apply and provide operational risk management strategies including delivery processes and procedures.
- Proactively recommend, drive and implement organizational/structural
changes that are needed to deliver improved service and greater cost
efficiency.
- Achieve 10% cost efficiencies year over year
Role Purpose:
- This individual has the full responsibilities for the transition and
steady state services: managing and overseeing all team members, work
closely with the global domains, PMO account team, client, portfolio
team, sales teams, solution architects and client engineering as well as
our partners/subcontractors to ensure superior solutions, delivery
readiness, transitions and steady-state support meeting and exceeding
client and contractual obligations.
- This person supports multiple domains during transition and steady state.
- The domain areas are: Windows/Cloud, Unix/Linux, Storage/backup,
Automation, Command center, messaging, Capacity management, and
Database.

Responsibilities:
Within the context of an assessment, the Project Manager:
- completes the business case and cost/benefit analysis for projects,
- oversees the analysis of business requirements,
Within the context of the a project, the Project Manager:
- manages project resources dedicated to a project
- is accountable for ensuring overall project plans and estimates are achieved
- provides project planning activities
- works with project management offices to keep the user community and
key stakeholders informed of project status, risks and issues
identification and mitigations.
- provides leadership for project team during all phases of SDM2
- prepares for engagement reviews and quality assurance procedures
- complies with Change Management protocols
- is accountable identify risks and minimize exposure through mitigating actions
- Prepares project plans including gathering of time estimates and cost estimates
- Works with user staff and other IT groups as required to ensure the project is successfully delivered
- Manages tasks with project team members
- Manages and monitors project financials
- Facilitates timely and effective meetings
- Keeps entire project team (including stakeholders) well informed of changes within the organization
- Effectively communicates relevant project information to superiors
- Delivers engaging, informative, well-organize presentations
- Resolves and/or escalates issues in a timely fashion
- Understands how to communicate difficult / sensitive information tactfully to all stakeholders
Functional Requirement or Qualifications:
5+ years experience in the delivery of diverse, complex IT and/ or Business projects (either infrastructure or application)
This position requires an advanced
level of initiative and judgment in order to organize and prioritize
tasks, workload and projects. Courtesy, tact and diplomacy are required
in dealing with clients and colleagues in day to day working
relationships.
Personality - strong communicator,
able to effectively work with strongly opinioned stakeholders that do
not have strong implementation experience. Can work collaboratively with
our team.
- Successfully proven use of formal methodology and project tracking
tools, forecasting, planning, financial controls, budgeting, risks
management, issue management and organizational change management
techniques
- Proven ability to effectively leverage a project sponsor and
Business owner to get him/her to help the PM through difficult
messaging, issues or risks
- Historically has been successful at objectively presenting
alternatives, consequences, and recommendations. Has driven a rational
decision based on alternatives.
- Has experience working in a matrix environment with co-located and virtual teams
- Understanding of out-sourced and off-shore operations (how they work and how to work effectively with them).
- A track record of building strong and maintaining trusted
relationships with internal and external partners, team members,
and vendors
- Has gathered information and documented business cases that have successfully translated into projects and business impact
- Business acumen and political savvy – the ability to work as part of
a Team (spanning Business clients, IT Services and support and
Vendors) to achieve tangible results.
- Conflict management - requires specialized interpersonal skills to
resolve situations with colleagues where there may be some level of
conflict, stress or uncertainty.
- Accountable to ensure solutions are proposed by using imaginative
approaches where constructive thinking and innovation are required
leveraging the Centres of Expertise.
- Adaptable to set and prioritize work with multiple exceptions. Able to work with diverse personalities and styles.
- Communication skills – Advanced skills with clarity and accuracy for
presentations, meetings, conference calls or email correspondence,
either in a group setting or one on one.
SAP Requirements:
- Has managed an SAP Implementation particularly in a validated
environment (think drug companies, healthcare etc.). Focus is on
Inventory Management, Order processing, and invoicing.
- Would like a very seasoned individual that is quick to get up to
speed and be able to move forward with a go live within 2 months
(in-flight project handoff).
- Ability to effectively manage multiple vendors through their
deliverables in a very aggressive timeline removing any roadblocks
that would prevent delivery(Infrastructure - ex. Bell, Application
Config - ex. Itelligence, and Validation - ex. Invensys
SAP Modules:
- Inventory, Order Processing, Financials (AP, AR, GL), Quality Assurance, Analytics Reporting
- Nice to haves: Asset / Plant Maintenance, Transportation Management, BI/BOBJ
Education & Job Knowledge:
- Post secondary education equivalent to a university diploma in Computer Science, Business or equivalent
- Knowledge of project delivery methodologies
