Requirements or Qualifications
Our organization is looking for an ITS Problem Analyst to join the ITS-EITO Change and Problem Management team, to assist with the Enterprise Problem Management process.
The Problem Analyst will coordinate activities around root cause analysis by pulling in subject matter experts and ensuring all stakeholders are properly communicated to. This role requires strong leadership and negotiation skills, as well as, strong written and oral communication skills. The incumbent will have working knowledge of the ITIL framework and familiarity with CA Service Desk or another ITIL aligned tool.

Problem Analyst – Role Summary
As a member of the Problem Management team, you will spend time dealing with Problems and raised requests, working with Problem Owners on Root Cause Analysis of Problems, why they have occurred and what to do to resolve them permanently. The Problem Analyst should be a self-motivated individual with a good understanding of complex technical environments and the technologies used.
 
Duties include, but are not limited to;
• Acting as a Chair, and participating in daily operational review meetings
• Recording and tracking Problems and reviewing supplier Incidents and Root Cause Analysis reports
• Facilitating Root Cause Analysis reviews
• Participate in Incident management activities by Interacting with internal teams, client areas and external service providers to quickly troubleshoot Incidents and Problems
• Working with Problem Owners, prepare Root Cause Analysis reports and/or Executive Summary reports
• Daily follow-up on action items related to open Problem Records
• Weekly and monthly Problem Management reporting
• Compile and analyze metrics for Incidents and Problems
• Provide off hours systems support as part of on-call rotation, if required
 
Qualified Candidates will have:
• College Degree or equivalent experience (Computer Science Preferable)
• Minimum of three to five (3-5) years' experience within IT Operations
• Strong working knowledge of IT Problem Management methods and procedures
• Strong understanding of other IT Service Management disciplines, such as Change and Incident Management is required
• ITIL Foundations certification (ITIL v3 is preferred)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to both technical and non-technical audiences coupled with an ability to communicate with all levels of management
• Effective analytical and problem solving skills, with attention to detail
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and to provide clear direction to people during times of crisis negotiator and influencer who will get people moving quickly in the same direction
• Demonstrated ability to conduct trend analysis
• Works effectively to influence those not directly within own span of control.
• Understanding of the inter-relationship of all technologies employed in a distributed environment
• Strong technical aptitude and knowledge of the services provided by IT
• Working knowledge of an ITIL based tool
