About the Job
Our client has a requirement for Senior Quality Assurance analyst for a 6 months contract opportunity. The positions are located in Toronto.

Requirements or Qualifications
  • Primarily responsible for performing batch testing to ensure all the batch jobs are functioning properly
  • Involvement in different test phases of a project such as System Testing and System Integration Testing (SIT)
  • Create test scenarios and test cases against the Software Requirement Specifications.
  • Execute system test cases for ETL and MDM batch jobs
  • May need to co-ordinate execution of testing for certain MDM modules
  • Ensure that defects are logged in Quality Centre and follow up with the developers throughout the whole defect life cycle.
  • Provide testing estimates and estimate revisions as per the SDLC for costs and resources
  • Ensure all test artifacts adhere to our standards and audit requirements and are stored in the project SharePoint site and in Quality Centre
  • Review and provide input to project documentation as required (SRS, SDS) and monitor and continue to assess and mitigate testing risks and monitor and track testing progress
  • Prioritize testing tasks based on goals and risks of projects and ensure testing milestones, activities and tasks are completed as scheduled
 
Qualifications/Skills/Experience:
  • At least 5 years of QA experience, preferably in the banking industry
  • Practical experience with batch testing or back-end database testing
  • Hands-on experience with UNIX commands
  • Basic understanding of XML.
  • Working experience with writing SQL queries
  • Working experience with relational databases, preferably DB2
  • Experience in working with systems with multiple interfaces
  • Strong knowledge of testing including risk-based testing, software development practices and methodologies, version control and defect management practices
  • Strong know ledge of Test Strategy development, Test Planning, Defect Reporting and Test Case design techniques for initiatives ranging from moderate to high complexity
  • Sound understanding of business workflows, testing tools, products / applications involved and documentation repository practices and working with third party service partners
  • Sound understanding and working knowledge of SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) and PMLC (Project Management Life Cycle)
  • Sound understanding of the underlying technologies, infrastructure and business continuity planning for the applications supported
  • General knowledge of Bank and technology standards (e.g., infrastructure, architecture, processes, applications)
  • Advanced understanding of businesses and/or organizational practices/disciplines
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the latest technology innovations and their applicability to business operations
  • Proactive team player with effective time management skills; ability to work independently, manage multiple deadlines/projects and keep key players informed
  • Experience in working in a medium to large size teams of testing professionals is an asset
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and negotiation skills
  • Experience working in the Financial industry is an asset
 
Other Qualifications / Skills / Experience:
  • Hands-on experience with backend testing, e.g. batch, SQL validation, log file validation, etc.
  • Knowledge of testing including risk based testing, software development practices and methodologies, version control and defect management practices
  • Knowledge of Test Strategy development, Test Planning, Defect Reporting and Test Case design techniques for initiatives ranging from moderate to high complexity
  • Good understanding of business workflows, testing tools, products /applications involved and documentation repository practices and working with third party service partners
  • Experience in executing test strategy, test plans and test scripts
  • Comfortable working on large scale, multi-component complex systems
  • Work experience with mainframe systems
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Experience with SDLC or other industry standard development processes
  • Team player
  • Ability to multi-task and work with minimal supervision
 
Qualified Candidates will have:
  • 5 yrs of QA experience
  • HP Quality Centre
  • SQL
  • Mainframe (e.g. TSO)
  • UNIX
  • Financial background
  • Excellent Communication
 
Specific Educational Requirements / Accreditations:
  • Testing certification such as CSTE or ISTQB Certified Tester would be an asset
  • Knowledge of MDM is an asset
  • Knowledge of ETL is an asset
