Job Description
Our GTA client has a requirement for a Tester for a 6 months contract position located in Toronto.
The services and deliverables to be provided will include the following:
Deliverables:
•Provide expertise in the testing of business applications (HRIS & MIS) supported in production by application maintenance and support group
•Develop / update and execute test cases for the new and existing projects and report on all types of testing including technical and business functional validation and application regression testing
•Evaluate and report on the quality of test cases & software products and make recommendations for deployment
•Review requirements, release notes and designs and develop and document comprehensive test plans
•Prepare and execute test plans, run test cases, create detailed bug reports etc.
•Support other analysts by reviewing work and providing feedback
•Transfer application knowledge to other team members
•Report on progress, alerting development team to emerging issues and concerns
•Assist development with reproducing defects under investigations
•Evaluate business requirements and/or release notes
•Create Test Strategy documentation for specific releases
•Assist in other aspects of the project including:
•Contribution, collection and organization of knowledge capital;
•Building of knowledge bases and collaboration tools;
•Project process automation and operational automation; and
•Work collaboratively within the team to develop and improve QA processes.
Qualifications Knowledge, skills and abilities
•5+ years experience in an application development and system integration environment within a deadline driven atmosphere
•Experience testing HRIS or ERP Accounting applications (Quadrant & Microsoft Dynamics GP)
•Advanced level knowledge of the software development life cycle, testing strategies, tools and QA methodologies
•Solid knowledge of requirements management/gap analysis and experience with requirements traceability matrix development and maintenance
•Experience with QA management process including defect management and tracking
•Experience planning, organizing and implementing quality assurance testing efforts
•Comprehensive knowledge of the practices, procedures and principles of Quality Assurance sufficient to be recognized as a subject matter expert
•Direct experience creating testing strategy documentation and test plans for various test phases i.e. SIT, PPT, etc.
•Must have experience developing and executing test plans and test cases
•Some experience with scripting and running test sequences using automated testing tools (e.g. Rational Functional Tester, Winrunner, Quick Test Pro, etc.)
•Must be self-motivated and flexible and be able to work with minimal guidance
•Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision making skills; organizational creativity and perseverance skills
•Collaborative team player with a track record for meeting deadlines
Nice to have
•Knowledge of one or more automated testing tools
