About the Job
Our client has a requirement for a Senior Derivatives Business Analyst for a three month contract opportunity.  The position is located in Toronto.

Role
We are looking for a Senior Derivatives Business Analyst to work on the Implementation of G20 Summit / Dodd Frank Initiatives. The successful candidate will review requirements for swap execution facilities and trade repositories.


Responsibilities
Elicit Requirements
  • Analyze the current state in order to create the design, definition and documentation of business requirements and associated technology and processes
  • Proactively draw out and document requirements, information and assumptions (implicit/explicit) from stakeholders using a variety of tools and techniques
  • Understand, challenge, probe, categorize, prioritize, document and reconcile information and requirements
  • Validate that the stakeholder’s needs have been understood and correctly captured/documented
  • Obtain signoff for requirements

 Requirements Management
  • Identify the customers/clients, users and stakeholders to determine who should be involved in the requirements gathering process
  • Track and manage changes to requirements throughout the project life cycle
  • Ensure traceability of appropriate design, solution and documentation to business requirements
  • Understand, prioritize and plan the approach based on dependencies between initiatives
  • Provide status updates, escalation to manager as appropriate

 Communication
  • Concisely communicate ideas, options and recommendations in an appropriate format for the audience - i.e. Use written, numerical, charting, verbal and diagrammatic techniques
  • Facilitate and maintain the focus of a diverse group of stakeholders - Use different techniques/approaches in order to build consensus, enable agreement and/or course of action that is mutually agreeable to all stakeholders
  • Manage people and situations, including finding causes of and approaches to address problems and diffuse conflict before it starts
  • Present difficult or complex ideas clearly and effectively
  • Interface with Front Office, Risk Managers, Middle Office and Back Office in all aspects of business requirements gathering and development

Analysis
  • Break down information into constituent parts using different techniques/tools in order to distinguish user requests from underlying needs, identify similarities and patterns
  • Assess information and analyses to identify conflicts, gaps between requirements/needs and scope, objectives and/or organizational strategies
  • Analyze and document workflows, requirements, test cases, and other material to ensure clear communication of complex business concepts and scenarios.
  • Identify changes in scope of work, related to requirements and ensure appropriate controls are applied.
  • Propose options/ alternatives to align requirements with scope/ objectives/strategies/ needs using the appropriate level of detail for the audience/ issue
  • Ensure stakeholders have sufficient understanding of the analyses and implications to enable informed decision making

 Project Management and Support the Team
  • Contribute to delivery strategy, road map through the implementation
  • Contribute to the resolution of issues
  • Assist/contribute to other project roles
  • Participate in knowledge transfers to improve the team’s effectiveness


Requirements or Qualifications
Qualified Candidates will have:
  • Expert knowledge of business analysis principles
  • Advanced knowledge of tools (e.g., MS Office, Visio, MS Projects) within own area
  • Project experience in derivatives especially in implementing CCP (Central Counterparty) Solutions.
  • Experience of the financial industry, in the following products: OTC Derivatives (Interest Rates, Credit, Equity, Commodity, and FX)
  • Knowledge of back office processing flows
  • Experience with use cases (UML) and/or dataflow diagrams, understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC), project lifecycle, code documentation, databases, etc
  • Expected to work with minimal oversight and supervision
  • Working knowledge of Bloomberg, Calypso Derivatives, and other derivative platforms
  • Knowledge of Swap Execution Facilities (SEF) & Swap Data Repositories (SDR) is consider and asset
  • Awareness of regulatory landscape of Dodd-Frank & G20 Commitments.
  • QA and Testing experience
