Job Description
Our Client is looking for a Senior Systems Analyst resource for 7 months contract. The location is in Toronto.
Candidate must have experience in all phases of development on large, complex projects in a Java / Websphere environment. Experience with application level architecture design is required, so person must be a senior designer and analyst with a really solid technical background.
- Prior government experience would be an asset.
· Initial focus on this engagement will be testing related.
The Systems Analyst will be responsible for the analysis of the business requirements to develop and design the optimum approach for technical implementation of the business requirements, the translation of the business requirements into technical specification documentation, and conducting systems testing to ensure quality code is being created. The Systems Analyst will also lead the work to deliver the functionality to allow authorized ministry administrative users to make corrections to data entry errors.
The Systems Analyst will work closely with the Business Analyst, the Programming resources, the Technical Team Lead and the Project Manager to plan for the modifications and enhancements for AIMS to ensure successful implementation completion of all the deliverables.
This is a complex assignment and to meet the goals and objectives, a Sr. Systems Analyst is required with the following skills to complete these Deliverables:
1) The initial deliverable will be the development and presentation for approval of a detailed work plan to guide this assignment to its successful completion. The Systems Analyst will meet with the designated Project Leads assigned to the project to gather the information to develop the Work Plan.
2) Using the approved Work Plan, taking direction from the Project Lead, the Systems Analyst will:
i) Analyze business requirements. Systems Analyst will work closely with the Business Analyst and, when appropriate, the Business Subject Matter Experts to ensure that the requirements are clearly understood and provide the correct level of detail for translation into functional specificiations;
ii) Develop and design the optimum approach for technical implementation of the business requirements;
iii)Validate the optimal approach that will include assessing available resources, identified risks, timelines and the impacts of the approach on other deliverables as well as the overall goals and objectives of the project. Validation will be an on-going activity;
iv) Translate the business requirements into functional specification documents that the Programmer / Analysts will use to design and develop code. The Systems Analyst will support the Programmers by provide clarification on the functional specifications, resolving any contradictions, ambiguities or gaps;
v) Conduct systems testing to ensure quality code is being created. This Quality Control component of the assignment will require the Systems Analyst to develop a test plan and test cases, log the test results and manage the resolve of errors or omissions with the Project Lead or their designate.
vi) Lead the work to deliver the functionality to allow authorized ministry administrative users to make corrections to data entry errors. This will include gathering, analyzing and refining the business and technical requirements, design the solution, create the functional specifications for develop, conduct the testing and quality assurance tasks and document the operational processes of this new function.
