Our client has a requirement for a Storage Engineer for a 6 month contract opportunity. The position is located in Toronto.

Role:
Our client is seeking a strong experienced Senior Storage Engineer. The Storage Engineering team designs, builds, tests, and deploys storage solutions and services for centrally stored online data using Storage Area Network (SAN), Network Attached Storage (NAS) and Data Protection technologies. The team provides complete storage management support for Business and Infrastructure applications that run on UNIX, Windows, Linux and z/OS operating system platforms. This includes research and evaluation of storage technologies, planning and deployment of capacity upgrades, reporting on and resolving performance issues and maintaining configurations.
Requirement or Qualifications:
- 8+ years of IT Storage work experience.
- Strong knowledge of Storage Administration/Processes
- Proven experience designing and implementing storage infrastructure solutions
- In depth experience with Storage Area Networking (SAN) technology including solid understanding of Fibre Channel, zoning, RAID types, Fan-in/Fan-out, ISL, storage provisioning, LUN management, virtualization and performance management
- Ability to use Storage Management Tools to discover, monitor, build and report on the storage infrastructure (e.g. HDS product suite, SANscreen, NetApp Operations Manager/DFM, NTP, Servergraph)
- Experience with SAN switch zoning administration and planning
- Understanding of Storage Networking concepts: SCSI, iSCSI, Fibre Channel, LUN Security, IFS, CNFS, data replication, virtualization, and distance extension technologies.
- Experience with hardware and software storage products and solutions, including Hitachi, Cisco, McData, EMC, NetApp and IBM
- Experience with storage file servers in an integrated Unix/Windows environment, preferably with Network Appliance clustered systems, Data ONTAP OS and application data management experience
- Fundamental knowledge of storage technologies and products (NDMP, VTL, HSM Space Management, NTP Software’s Product Suite, StorageProfiler)
- Experience with local and remote site storage replication techniques and technologies
- Working knowledge of Distributed Backup software (i.e. TSM, NetBackup, etc.)
- Experience and scripting knowledge of UNIX and Windows operating systems
- Knowledge of z/OS mainframe operating system as asset
- Microsoft Access experience an asset
- Talent for independently learning technology and applying to client’s infrastructure
- Demonstrated self-starter with ability to identify tools and processes for enhancing the cost effectiveness of the Bank’s Storage Services
- Strong customer service orientation
- Demonstrated team player; reliable with positive “can do” attitude
