Our Client in Vancouver is seeking a creative and technically savvy Lead Level Designer for an innovative and unusual Kinect game for young children. This is mainly a 2D game of exploration and interaction, not combat or platforming, and your work will involve designing and implementing interactive scenes in the Unity game engine toolset including scripting in C#.
The hours are a typical business day with some flexibility as long as core hours are worked (core hours 10-4).
Location: Downtown Vancouver. No relocation offered and no travel is required.

Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with game designers on initial design specs
• Drive detailed specs including working with area specialists to break the design down into art & audio deliverables.
• Work within the set standard for all level asset creation within the production path as it relates to design, art and otherwise.
• Manage the asks required by the design; including collaboration with art, tech and other designers.
• Implement gameplay; from first playable prototypes to shippable completion.
• Scripting in Unity using C#
• Develop long-term processes for approvals among cross-functional team members.
• Contribute to educational meetings for in-house staff on new technical issues and tools dealing with all design aspects - level building, entities, cameras, etc.
• Communicate thoroughly to insure good working relationships with the other designers, design director, lead designer, art director, tech lead, animators, etc.
• Recruit and manage a team of level designers
• Coordinating user research activities with Redmond team through the production cycle
• Integrating user and technology insights throughout the design process
• Help identify and resolve high risk usability issues
• Work with subject matter experts to gather insights and convert into something usable for the development team
Qualifications:• 4+ years in game development, with at least 2+ years in Level Design specific role.
• 1+ shipped AAA console game
• Knowledge of Unity game engine, tools and processes
• Basic scripting skills, C# is a plus
• Experience leading teams
• Strong leadership skills
• Strong drive to create innovative answers to problems
Nice to have:• Motion games a plus
• Experience with A/B testing and rapid iteration
• Understanding of ergonomics
