Our client has a requirement for a Project Manager to fill a Permanent opportunity located in Calgary, Alberta.


Requirements or Qualifications


Qualifications

•Leads small projects or phase(s) of large projects from inception and design to implementation under the direction of a Program Manager, Senior Project Manager, or the Director of IT Project Delivery
•Uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve IT processes and/or services
•Solves a range of complex problems and takes a new perspective using existing or new solutions
•Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience


Project Management Accountabilities

•Projects will have a narrow scope, limited risk, complexity and resource requirements and often concern a single functional area within IT
•A projects’ geographic scope will generally be for a single site with some exposure to projects within a zone or regional impact
•Writes or assists in the development of project charters
•Co-ordinates the activities of project team
•Identifies resources needed
•Develops a work plan and timeline to ensure timely completion of project
•Monitors the project’s progress against standards, timelines, plans and budget, actively identifying and resolving issues within policies and guidelines.
•Escalates project issues in accordance to the approved project governance as appropriate
•Facilitates project team meetings
•Controls and tracks expenditures against approved budget for the program
•Monitors deliverables and project milestones and creates status reports
•Ensures adherence to Client quality standards and PMO methodology
•Manages the integration of vendor tasks and tracks and reviews vendor deliverables, when applicable
•Post implementation review and closure of project according to the PMO methodology


Relationship Management Accountabilities

•Communicates, manages expectations and represents CLIENT interests to mainly internal stakeholders of a non-complex level as well as working occasionally with external vendors
•Limited contact with external agencies and government stakeholders
•Interprets customer requirements and present solution options to address requirements and build consensus
•Communicates regularly with project stakeholders to gain an understanding and perspective on the project
•Develops relationships with external vendors to partner with in designing medium-sized solutions for Client business and technical issues


Delivering Solutions

•Tracks expenditures to ensure that the project remains on budget
•Uses industry best practices in project management such as, Change Requests or Decision Requests, to address unplanned work or change to the project.
•Manages costs to align with the PMO stage-gating approval process
•Deals with delays in external vendors providing deliverables
•Must ensure that vendors are able to meet deadlines and resolve issues to the satisfaction of all parties if there are delays


Impact

•Defines project resource requirements and establishes project timelines
•Must be feasible to ensure that a project outcome is successful both from a business and financial perspective
•Explains difficult issues and works to build consensus
•Explains standard concepts to project team members and stakeholders, ability to change thinking and build alignment and consensus with Client philosophy
•Any project issue that cannot be resolved within the project governance guidelines and policies concerning a delay in project deliverables, a required increase to the budget outside of any planned cost contingencies would be escalated


Expertise

•Post-secondary degree or relative experience
•Preference may be given to those in process of achieving a Project Management designation
•5+ years of work-related experience
•Some experience leading small to medium sized project teams
•Intermediate knowledge of project management principles, tools and methodologies
•Intermediate abilities using MS Office suite, including MS Project and Visio, preferred
•Healthcare knowledge and experience is considered an asset
•General knowledge in IT functional areas
•Strong analytical, problem solving and critical thinking
•Good negotiation and conflict resolution skills
•Strong written and oral communication skills
•Proven ability to foster relationships and partnerships with complex internal and external stakeholder
