One of our financial services client is looking for a Java Developer to join the team for a 6 month contract in Toronto Ontario.
We are looking for a strong Java candidate interested in configuration and not pure Java development.
This candidate would be working with IBM Open Pages and integrating this 3rd party software into Client;s software using Java, Websphere, PL/SQL, Shell Scripting, RDBMS, Oracle and Cognos experience and Unix(AIX/Linux). As a Senior Java Developer, the candidate will be part of the Corporate Compliance development team and have accountability for development on Corporate Compliance projects. The candidate must be organized, self motivated, as well as a team player and be able to participate in the knowledge transfer of information with peers and management.
A major part of this role will be in working with vendor products and becoming a technical expert on the same, being able to configure them, and integrate them with other systems in the TD environment.
Accountabilities Include:
• Develop/Integrate, code, unit-test, system test and support quality solutions that meet the design expectations while adhering with Client's development best practices.
• As a senior developer you will be expected to focus on the more complicated aspects of development work and/or developing foundational elements that can later be expanded upon by more junior members of the team.
• Ensure defect-free programming by documenting and executing test cases that cover all functional and technical aspects of the code.
• Complete development, or related technical tasks as assigned by tech
Other mandatory qualifications include:
• Above-average experience with Java-related tools, frameworks, patterns and products.
• Experience working on projects to integrate vendor systems into an environment
• Considerable experience across a broad range of technologies with clear understanding of advantages of each and how they can be used to satisfy business requirements.
• Deep experience with relational databases (Oracle preferably) including PL/SQL, embedded SQL, performance optimization and effective use of related utilities and tools.
• Experience with designing reports in Cognos
• Experience with one or more variants of Unix (AIX, Unix, Linux), for the purposes of deploying and administering Java applications.
• Experience in development of client-facing web applications with understanding of security and user-experience design considerations.
• Experience in IBM WebSphere environment
• Experience in troubleshooting production issues and all aspects of software development lifecycle
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent analytical and documentation skills.
Other nice to have:
• Expertise in the compliance domain would be a definite asset
• Experience with TD System Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and Project Management Lifecycle (PMLC) project deliverables would also be an asset
• Deep experience with IBM Rational Development environment, and related toolsets
• Experience with PTC (MKS) and Tomcat environment
• Working knowledge of SOA/Web services/XML
• Experience with Data Access Frameworks (EJB/Hiberate/JDBC), SQL – preferably in Oracle environment
