Description:
Our
client has a requirement for a VMware vCenter Operations Manager
for a 3 month contract opportunity. The position is
located in Calgary.

Role:
- Responsible for service health monitoring, both in the production and non-production environments.
- Monitoring end to end service health and collating / analyzing warning alerts to identify potential risks to the environment stability.
- Perform trend analysis on the IS environment's health, defining monitoring standards and metrics, setting benchmarks and providing the associated reporting.
- Develop metrics to show positive business value from higher focus on pre-emptive monitoring versus reactive.
- Monitor the organization's compliance to internal / external security and accreditation regulations and policies.
- Provide application and infrastructure maintenance support including daily application checks, minor fixes and changes.
- As part of systems testing and implementation, support service readiness and acceptance efforts
- Support the service transition team (including document reviews) during release management and new service introductions.
- Provide periodic and ad hoc IT management reports
Requirement
or Qualifications:
- Experience with SCOM / VCOPS
- SCCM and SCOM experience is desirable
- PowerShell Scripting (Experience using PowerShell for server automation tasks necessary)
- Thorough understanding of VMware, Storage and Networking would be desirable
- Strong experience with Windows Server & Linux technologies (Windows 2008 R2 , SuSE Redhat) is required
- Minimum of 3 years of experience with monitoring systems like SCOM, VCOPS and others
- Experience working with information technology in an railroad domain is an asset
- Experience developing reports and providing analysis
- Infrastructure maintenance support experience
- Strong communication skills - both written and verbal
- Able to work effectively in a team environment & Strong leadership and team building skills
- Effective negotiation skills, able to facilitate collaboration between stakeholders with differing opinions
- College diploma or university degree in business or information systems
- Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundations certification is an asset \
