About the Job
Our client has a requirement for an Engineer – Physical Security and Systems for an 18 month contract opportunity.  The position is located in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Our Client a Global Security company engaged with working with the Government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the development of a comprehensive nuclear security program for the countries’ civil nuclear power program.

This initiative is combining the resources of a global team of experts to partner with the country officials in the program development and transition to local authority ensuring a sustainable world-class program. The program components encompass the wide spectrum of disciplines necessary for program development to include, strategic planning, training, engineering, quality assurance and overall program management.

Given this is a unique opportunity, we are seeking candidates who possess extensive experience and expertise in their given field and are willing to relocate to the United Arab Emirates to fulfill this mission.

A senior security systems engineer with experience of the following
  • Design of large, complex integrated security systems, and their major sub-system components;
  • Physical security measures; and
  • Communications networks and backbones. Responsible for the review of system and facility designs and for the security systems and facilities associated with them
Key Responsibilities:
  • Providing security systems technical and applications advice to both client officials and to the local regulatory authority.
  • Utilizing input from the Vulnerability Analysis team to develop detailed security system design, integration, and performance requirements documents.
  • Justifying security systems design and implementation to government regulators.
  • Coordinating and providing design direction to the contractor as necessary.
  • Quality assurance with regard to security systems and facilities.
  • Provide mentoring to the clients’ staff for security concepts, design processes, and methodologies. Acting as a technical resource on security systems and associated technology.
  • Coordinating with other engineering disciplines and organizations as necessary.
  • Maintain a professional appearance at all times when at the place of work.
Experience & Capabilities:
  • The candidate will be a security systems engineering professional with substantial experience (a minimum of at least ten years’ experience) in the nuclear industry.
  • The candidate must have an understanding of the development of a construction site environment within the nuclear industry.
  • The candidate will need to demonstrate their knowledge and experience of working within the nuclear industry for major, complex integrated security systems in a high security area.
  • Experience with cyber security within nuclear security regulations (United States / United Kingdom).
Other Key Attributes:
  • Considerable, proven experience in comprehensive design programs for complex integrated security systems in a very high security setting.
  • Comprehensive, current knowledge of all applicable security technologies and their application.
  • Understanding of successful technology applications in the Middle East environment.
  • Knowledge of the design and specification of large, LAN-based active and passive communication networks including access control systems.
  • Knowledge of physical security construction – perimeter barriers, walls, portals, structures, and the simulation and measurement of explosive blast resilience.
  • Knowledge of the design of high security communications backbones.
  • Experience with highly resilient electrical power supplies.
  • Flexibility in building a new organization, demonstrated ability to work in diverse teams.
  • Extensive experience designing and implementing security systems for commercial nuclear power facilities.
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or computer science.
Working Conditions:
  • This position may require unconventional work hours due to crisis management and evolving issues.
  • Position will be based in a busy office environment, and will be subject to frequent interruptions.
  • Must be able to work independently, using good judgment and discretion on assigned tasks and accept direction on given assignments.
  • May require moderate travel to high-risk environments, within the UAE.
Physical Requirements:
Regularly requires intermittent sitting, standing, walking, running, climbing, squatting, and kneeling. Requires constant use of hands and fingers to feel, handle or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more with assistance. Specific vision required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Because the candidate will conduct, supervise, and participate in training, and in fulfilling contractual obligations, must meet established health requirements for contract personnel associated with assigned contracts.
