Job Description
We are currently seeking an IT Analyst for a 6 month contract opportunity in Toronto Ontario.
Manager is looking for a strong DB reporting Analyst to work on an upgrade-Migration Project 2005-2008.
The IT Analyst position is part of the Risk Data Infrastructure & Reporting team within the Retail Risk Management group of the financial industry. The person in this role will work as part of the Production Support team under the supervision of a senior analyst and/or manager to understand our environment, to complete specific project tasks and to support our DB, web applications and reporting components;
Accountabilities • Deployment:
- Deploy components into production environment as per Change Management procedures defined for our team;
- Prepare deployment instructions, support performance testing and update code into source code library;
• Production Support:
- Support existing production applications and processes (investigation, solution implementation);
- User administration, maintenance for development environment;
• Testing:
- Conduct QA tasks as assigned to specific projects;
- Prepare documentation as applicable (test plans, test cases)
• Manage Relationships:
- Communicate project/tasks status and provide timely escalation of issues;
- Act as a technical resource for the client to ensure deliverables meet business and end-users requirements;
- Participate in knowledge transfer activities as required and share knowledge with other team members, as applicable;
Technical Skills
- High level of proficiency with the following software tools/utilities:
Relational DBs (development and administration)
SQL Server, Analysis Services and Integration Services (SSIS) (versions 2005 and up);
Scripting (DOS scripts, VB scripts, Java scripts)
Windows OS
- Working knowledge with the following software tools/utilities:
Crystal Reports (version 2008 and up)
Visual Studio .NET (ASP, VB, C++, C#) (versions 2005 and up);
• Other skills
- Exposure to any of these tools/utilities is a plus:
Business Intelligence tools (Business Objects, Hyperion, Cognos)
Basic understanding of Datawarehouse development, ETL processes;
Mainframe (SAS, JCL);
Source Code Repository tools (MKS, ClearCase, MS Visual Source Safe)
MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Access PowerPoint), MS Project, MS Visio
