About the Job

Our client has a requirement for a Technical Lead for a six month opportunity.  The position is located in Toronto

Role

We are looking for Technical Leaders for our Specialized Support Group (SSG) within Infrastructure Technology Solutions. The Infrastructure Technology Solutions area is responsible for managing the technology infrastructure for the entire organization.  The ideal candidate will have a background in Infrastructure in the Financial Services arene; specifically Capital Markets and Wholesale Banking.

Primarily, the applications supported by SSG will be securities trading systems with special technology and support requirements unique to the wholesale banking field.

Candidates will be expected to demonstrate an understanding of all elements required to support securities trading systems (both front office and back office) with special technology and support requirements that are unique to the wholesale banking field. This will be a challenging position, with involvement in many projects in a dynamic fast paced environment.

Responsibilities

As a Technical Lead in the SSG Solutions Delivery team, you will provide technical leadership for business projects requiring infrastructure solutions. This team will work closely with the wholesale technology teams to understand the business problem and ensure that the infrastructure solution meets the business needs.

The Solutions Delivery team will rely heavily on the architecture and engineering teams to design and implement the infrastructure, and will provide technical oversight and leadership throughout the project.

Once systems are operational, the solutions delivery team may also be required to assist in resolving problems, acting as consultants on the overall system design.

The Technical Lead will be expected to:

• Provide end-to-end technical leadership on projects
• Work with other SSG and ITS teams (Architects, Facilities, Networking, etc) in project delivery and support functions
• Follow all relevant policies, including security, audit, etc
• Participate in incident and problem management processes as needed

Specifically, the candidate will be creating and implementing solutions dealing with the following technologies. This is not a hands-on role; experience with these fields is an asset.  

• Unix Technologies: Sun Solaris, Linux (RedHat or SUSE)
• Windows: Windows Server, Active Directory
• Databases: SQL Server, Oracle, Sybase
• Hardware: Intel/AMD (HP, IBM, Sun), Sparc

In addition, the candidate is expected to engage with other functional areas and various development organizations to provide technical expertise on the various platforms, products, and the software management processes surrounding them.

Requirements or Qualifications

Qualified Candidates will have:

• Architecture experience
• Demonstrated Capital markets IT experience
• Experience with Financial budgetary planning
• Experience with Project Scheduling
• Broad experience with IP networking concepts - routers, firewalls, etc  (CCNA Certification)
• Broad experience with all aspects of IT Infrastructure (Unix, Windows, Databases, Hardware, etc)
• Teamwork - strong relationships with developers and business analysts, architecture, operations
• ITIL certification
• Excellent communication and presentation abilities
• Effective time management skills and ability to work under deadlines and operational pressures
