About the Job 

Our client has a requirement for a Technical Architect for a six month contract opportunity.  The position is located in Toronto.

Role

We are looking for a Senior Technical Architect who has at least 10 years of development experience with at least 5 years experience on Cognos technology stack; has experienced in developing Business Intelligence solutions (reports, dashboards, scorecards) using Cognos and well versed with technicalities around Cognos application along with Capital Market experience. This role is a combination of a strong BI developer, application, design and technical architect.

The successful candidate will join the Risk Valuation Reporting team in the capacity of a BI developer. Our team implements and supports various Market Risk application and risk reports.

Responsibilities 

• Design and develop reporting applications and underlying data structure using Cognos technology set
• Partner with Internal architecture team to design and implement multi-dimensional models, including the construction of Data Views and Cubes following standard development methodologies
• Should be able to translate SRS document (system requirement specification) into SDS document (system design document)
• Design and implement required interfaces with the data warehouse and other applications used by the business
• Work with the project business analyst to understand and improve requirements to deliver quality results
• Perform Cognos Administration and deployments over IBM WebSphere
• Perform Unit Testing and participate in reviews with the team
• Assist BAs and users with application testing

Requirements or Qualifications

Qualified Candidates will have:

• Minimum 10 years of development experience
• At least 5 years of experience on Cognos technology stack with specific knowledge on version 8 and Cognos Now
• Experienced in developing Business Intelligence solutions (reports, dashboards, scorecards) using Cognos
• Well versed with technicalities around Cognos administration
• Strong experience in cube modeling against backend data structure
• Familiar with large scale enterprise wide data warehouse standards, principles and best practices
• Familiarity of SDLC processes and standards
• Strong team player
• Excellent communication skills
• Available and willing to work overtime during contracted period and month of December
• Financial Industry experience (specifically Capital Markets)
• Market Risk experience and knowledge of financial products
• Technology certifications in relevant areas (i.e.: Cognos, WebSphere, TOGAF)
