Our client has a requirement for a Data Quality Analyst it is a 3 month contract opportunity. The position is located in Toronto.

Position:
Our client has established an Information Management framework that provides the policy direction, standards and best practices required to ensure that information management meets organizational requirements and most importantly ensure that data is handled as a corporate asset. It is comprised of:
Information management policies, standards and best practices to manage information management;
Data management (Governance) standards and best practices;
Project management framework;
Business intelligence framework; and
Change management framework.
Reporting to the Data Quality and Information Governance Manager, the Data Quality Analyst will work directly with members of the Data Stewardship and Information Management Advisory Committee, development and architecture teams to understand data quality issues and to proactively develop and deliver analysis that address the data sourcing and quality needs. This new role is essential to enable the following Information Management objectives:
¨ Standardizing data definitions
¨ Data discovery and data profiling
¨ Validating data sources
¨ Verification and documentation of business rules
¨ Maintaining a focus on continuous improvement of data quality, integrity and consistency
¨ Defining and ensuring appropriate data access and use
Responsibilities:
The Data Quality Analyst’s primary responsibilities are to:
Play a key role in the development and implementation of long-term data quality strategy in alignment with the Information Management Mandate.
Focus will be on; analyzing data to identify quality gaps, implementing reporting processes to track data quality improvements over time, defining and prioritizing high-value data quality projects and tasks to completion in collaboration with Data Stewardship team, partnering with IT and business areas within the organization
Engage in projects in the capacity as a subject matter expert on data quality, to articulate the need for and benefits of data quality to IT and business
Engage in projects to perform data quality assessments that will help validate data sources and identify and highlight potential risks associated with poor data quality
Facilitate discussions with project teams and data owners to relay back the result findings and recommendations in simple terms
Utilize profiling tools to uncover and determine root cause of complex data quality issues
Collaborate directly with business data owners and peer technical teams to establish quality business rules that will provide the foundation for continuous improvement of data quality, integrity and consistency
Define and ensure appropriate data access and use within data governance framework
Collaborate with Data Stewardship team to communicate and articulate the need for and benefits of data governance in alignment with data quality to business clients groups, system users, and other organizational stakeholders at an enterprise level
Identify and leverage opportunities to continually improve the governance of data management systems, processes policies and standards
Coach and provide guidance to junior support staff within the team to facilitate learning and help develop and enhance job performance
Qualified Candidates will have:
¨ Undergraduate degree/diploma in an analytical area (e.g. Math, Statistics, Computer Science)
¨ 5-10 years of work experience in IT applications or data management functions
¨ In-depth experience/understanding in data analysis / data quality assessment,data movement techniques and tools
¨ Solid background in relational databases (Mainframe and distributed DB2, Oracle, SQL Server)
¨ Experience writing SQL queries
¨ Ability to take initiative in recognizing data issues or areas where improvements could be made
¨ Experience in IT systems analysis and development
¨ Understanding of QA process and methodologies for ensuring data integrity
¨ Experience designing test cases and test plans
¨ Experience in performing root cause and impact analysis of data quality issues
¨ Strong Proficiency in MS Access and Excel
¨ Organizational awareness and operational system/data knowledge
