About the Job
Our client has a requirement for Implementation Lead for a 2 month contract opportunity.  The position is located in Toronto.
Job Description:
This role is in the Retail Systems department reporting to the Project Manager.  The candidate will be responsible for assisting the Project Manager and Implementation Lead in the development and validation of procedures, documentation and tools to support the rollout of the iSeries Websphere Application Server to all Our Clients Associate stores.
The candidate will provide leadership and guidance to the conversion support team members and act as a sounding board for any potential issues or problems that may arise during the conversion.  The candidate will continue to escalate major issues to the Team Lead and may be required to provide supplementary status reports as required or requested.
While acting as the conversion support team lead, the candidate will also be primarily responsible to provide technical and operational support to the associate store staff, primarily computer operators and Dealers via phone throughout the various installation tasks and activities ensuring all tasks are completed as per the schedule. The candidate will be responsible for tracking all conversion checkpoints and logging any store issues or problems encountered during the installation.  The candidate will escalate to the second level team any issues that they are unable to resolve and ensure that the resolution is communicated to the associate store staff.  The candidate will provide nightly status reports to the Implementation lead and other identified parties. The candidate may be able to participate in store implementation pilot activities which may require some limited travel, but the primary source of training will be via in house training.
This software installation can only be applied outside normal operating hours in our associate stores and as a result this will require the candidate to work a 7.5 hour night shift from Sunday through Thursday.  The shift start and end times will vary to accommodate the rollout schedule and the different time zones across the country.   Our typical store closing time is 9 pm local time.

Requirements:
  • Assist in the development and validation of implementation documentation and tools during the various phases of the project (you may be asked to provide feedback on French documentation).
  • Provide guidance and leadership to the conversion support team members and ensure that all issue escalations are properly managed and that all problems are recorded and logged for tracking purposes.
  • Provide technical and operational support (phone, email, etc.) to our Associate Store Dealers and staff for the assigned activities and tasks ensuring all implementation activities are completed successfully as per the schedule throughout the various phases of the project.
  • Update all required schedules and documentation required for the Project Manager and Implementation Lead and other project team members to effectively manage the implementation.
  • Proactively seek out opportunities to enhance the effectiveness of the implementation in conjunction with other members of the project team.
  • Look for solutions and creative methods to resolve problems and work through issues encountered throughout the project phases.
  • Work closely with business and user groups to identify major incidents, analyze and gather requirements and serve as a liaison between the implementation team and other technical, support, training, and development and business teams.
  • Actively participate in the planning and execution of pilot store sessions that may occur after normal business hours (may require some travel). 
  • Track and escalate any issues to Implementation Team Lead and Project Manager and provide supplementary status reports as required or requested.
  • Provide nightly status update to all required parties.
  • Actively participate in project meetings on a regular basis and in project lessons learned sessions when applicable.
  • Use problem determination techniques to isolate and identify any issues and use proven solutions to resolve issues that may arise.
  • Able to balance getting it done, with getting it right.

Qualified Candidates will have:
  • Strong analytical and problem resolution skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Proven technical support background.
  • Ability to develop and implement processes and the supporting documentation required to successfully implement and support new technology.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Quality focused and customer oriented.
  • Ability to plan and organize and prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage several work streams in tandem and meet deadlines.
  • Strong time management, conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and complete all work as assigned and also work cooperatively in a team environment and be a supportive team member.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
  • Proven background and experience with large national technology implementations preferably in a retail environment.
  • Good attention to detail and strong presentation skills.
