Job Description
•Oversee daily network operations - Check logs, verify server/network health, administer backups, respond to issues, manage and measure up-time (Windows Server 2000, 2003, 2008 standard and professional, Exchange 2000 migrating to Exchange 2005, BlackBerry Redirectors soon to become Blackberry enterprise software, SQL 2000 and SQL 2005, Symantec backup and open file agents, Kapersky Virus, outsourced anti-spam, Sonicwall VPN, Microwave Internet, PRI/Analog Phone service, BCM Phone system, coco system alerts, Liebert UPS / Generac Natural Gas Generator, Canon Copier/printers, internally hosted FTP, wireless lan)
•Moves, Adds, Changes and 1st level help desk support for 40 Windows desktops, 5 travelling laptop users, – 2 Apple Mac Graphics clients – and traditional BCM phones and Spectralink wireless phones and various accessories like cameras/scanners etc. Desktop troubleshooting and support for Word, Excel, PowerPoint, graphics, FTP
•Knowledge of JD Edwards (aka Oracle/Peoplesoft Enterprise One) is an asset but not necessary – we are Windows/SQL/Websphere site. Ultimately we’re hoping for someone who can be taught basic query data extraction/reporting skills.
•Maintain systems documentation – fallback/recovery scripts, workstation inventory, shop procedures, invoice approval etc.
•Ability to manage vendor relationships and control costs
•Assist with larger/annual project planning, RFP process, and budgetting
The ideal candidate:
•Has certified training in a related field, and at least 2 years of relevant experience
•Is a quick learner and great troubleshooter
•Is a “roll-up your sleeves” and “anything goes” kind of person – well suited to working in a one person shop, or in tandem with vendor partners as needed.
•Able to adapt to the changing needs of a sales/marketing/entrepreneurial environment.
•Demonstrates great interpersonal skills to foster great customer/client relationships.
