Job Description

Our client has a requirement for Senior Vessel Mechanical Engineer – TRIG Technology for 6 months Contract opportunity.  The positions are located in Houston, Texas, United States

Scope of Work/Description:


Our client is a leading  company with global presence and headquartered in Houston, TX.  Their focus is in Energy and Oil & Gas but have projects in other industries like Infrastructure and Minerals, International Government and Defense, North American Government and Defense, Power and Industrial, Services and others.  They are set apart by their technology-centric engineering approach and due to growth, they are looking for a Senior Vessel Mechanical Engineer with experience in TRIG Technology (Transport Reactor Integrated Gasification).

As a Senior Vessel Mechanical Engineer, you will serve as the project discipline lead responsible for the mechanical design in support of the client’s own-designed TRIG™ installations and projects worldwide, for technically challenging their own proprietary and critical pressure vessels and heat exchangers.  You will also be responsible for the preparation of drawings, data sheets, specifications and requisitions for TRIG™ related vessel and exchanger equipment.  You will be responsible for estimating, staffing, schedules, budgets and communication for your assigned projects.  Your assignment includes design calculations for technically challenging company proprietary and critical equipment plus bid evaluations and vendor document review and coordination.  Other duties may include field inspection of TRIG™ related pressure vessels, and shop visits for engineering inspection and vendor qualification.  You may also be expected to assist in the guidance and training of less experienced designers to meet the full requirements of the company’s TRIG™ designs.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering highly preferred; will consider Civil or Structural degree for the right candidate
  • Minimum of 10 years related experience, with an average of 15+ years experience in the Energy Industry required
  • Strong knowledge/experience in the use of industry standard vessel design codes and computer design programs required. ASME Code knowledge required
  • Experience in the mechanical design of high temperature, and refractory lined coal gasification required. FCC specific experience highly desired
  • Experience with vendor document review and coordination required
  • Familiar with shop fabrication of pressure vessels and specialty equipment required
  • Willingness to assist in training lesser experienced designers required
  • Some field experience such as equipment maintenance and inspection preferred
  • Heat exchanger designer experience desirable
  • Project lead experience preferred
  • Must be willing and available to travel up to 10-20% as needed
