Role:
Scope of Services and Deliverables
An intermediate (Level 2) Systems Analyst specializing in application packaging and certification is required to develop Microsoft System Installer (MSIs) while following standard process and procedure activities that contribute to the day-to-day application certification service deliverables.
 
The Systems Analyst will ensure components for the creation of MSIs are received, and provide updates to tracking and reporting metrics. Working in a team environment, the Systems Analyst will follow established processes, standard procedures to deliver in a timely fashion, MSIs under the guidance of the application certification team process and technical leads.
 
Services and Deliverables
The Level 2 Systems Analyst will collectively be responsible and accountable for the preparation, development, review, and submission of all project artifacts. The overall project tasks/activities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Reviewing, analyzing, and modifying product installation scripts including encoding, testing, debugging, and ensuring application certification services follow standard processes and procedures for the installation of applications on desktops.
  • Preparing scripts and MSI packages for an automated update toolset “Radia”.
  • Converting business specifications into scripting instructions, designing and coding programs, creating and executing test scenarios.
  • Reviewing and understanding source files and readme files to understand application scripting requirements.
  • Launching application and testing to ensure successful operation.
  • Installing applications using manual methods and recording requirements for automation.
  • Uninstalling applications, ensuring complete removal of all components from the system.
  • Assisting with quality assurance activities to ensure scripts operate as expected.
  • Where required, assisting with UAT sessions for clients to test packaged desktop applications.
  • Creating uninstall scripts for multi environments Windows 2000, and XP.
  • Working with QA to resolve install and uninstall issues.
  • Providing timely feedback to team members on matters that could delay the project implementation schedule.
  • Acting as subject matter expert for the creation and support of the MSI packages created under the standard desktop application certification service
  • Directly following up with requestors for any missing information (i.e. documentation, special instructions, etc.).
 
Requirement or Qualifications:
The Vendor’s Personnel will also be responsible for some, or all, of the following development tasks:
  • Assisting with unit, system, acceptance, and performance testing.
  • Supporting systems implementation.
  • Ensuring development documentation requirements are met.
  • Investigating and resolving system problems.
  • Post-implementation support.
 
The Vendor’s Personnel will also be required to:
  • Complete work and achieve milestones within the assigned deadlines;
  • Notify the Cluster/Ministry Project Manager in writing of any issues or other material concerns related to the Assignment Deliverables, as soon as the he/she becomes aware of them;
  • Submit Deliverables for the Cluster/Ministry approval as they are completed;
  • Comply with the Ontario Government and the Cluster/Ministry security procedures and practices;
  • Comply with the Ontario Government and the Cluster/Ministry architecture/technology standards and best practices
  • Comply with the Ontario Government and the Cluster/Ministry Conflict of Interest and
 
Confidentiality Guidelines;
  • Provide knowledge and skill transfer to a designated Cluster/Ministry staff; and
  • Comply with the Ontario Government I&IT Directive, Operational Policy on the I &IT Project Gateway Process, and other applicable Guidelines, Standards and Procedures.
 
Skills, Knowledge, Experience, and Qualifications:
The Vendor’s Personnel must be able to demonstrate knowledge of, and experience in, the following skills, activities, or areas, gained through work on a project(s) similar in size and scope to this project:
  • Knowledge and understanding of Operating System Windows XP, Windows 7 and Windows 8.
  • Understanding of the registry.
  • Knowledge of using VMware, Desktop and know how to create a VMware session.
  • Knowledge of AD and Group Policies.
  • Experience with using Install Shield, Wise Package Studio version 7, and knowledge of RADIA Publishing.
  • Knowledge and understanding of HP’s HPCA/RADIA tool.
  • 5+ years’ experience creating MSIs, specifically for a HPCA/RADIA deployment environment.
  • Knowledge of Networks, IP addressing.
  • Knowledge of how to re-image a PC.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal tactfully with people, have excellent interpersonal and communication and writing skills.
