Job Description

Our client has a requirement for .NET Architect/Developer for a 6 month contract opportunity.  The position is located in Toronto.

The ideal candidate will participate in the definition, development and deployment of the firm’s enterprise wide systems, applications and standards.  Works to respond to and resolve user problems/requests for development of various practice specific software applications.  Works to resolve technical issues in collaboration with other members of the firm’s Technology Team.   The ideal candidate will have strong design and hands-on development skill.  Please note that for the right individual this position could transition into a full-time permanent role.

Responsibilities
  • Participates as a member of and leads development teams.
  • Designs units for others.
  • Completes development to implement complex components.
  • Designs solutions for others to develop.
  • Participates in cross-functional teams.
  • Leads design activities.
  • Provides mentoring and guidance to developers. Mentor and work with developers to address challenges that arise, especially when they have broad/systemic impact and critical to the success of the system.
  • Designs, prepares and executes unit tests. Represents team to clients.
  • Demonstrates technical leadership, and exerts influence outside of immediate team.
  • Develops innovative team solutions to complex problems.
  • Contributes to strategic direction for teams.
  • Applies in -depth or broad technical knowledge to provide maintenance solutions across one or more technology areas (e.g. Web-site Development).
  • Applies Microsoft and 3rd party technologies to complex software solutions of moderate complexity.
  • Integrates technical expertise and business understanding to create superior solutions.
  • Independently implements end - user or enterprise solutions of significant complexity
  • Provide time / resource estimates for assigned projects.
  • Develops innovative solutions to complex business and technology problems.
  • Facilitates requirements gathering sessions with stakeholders and business users to capture business rules, workflows, solution goals and project objectives
  • Formulates and defines system scope and objectives based on business needs, identify how the request impacts other systems and business processes.
  • Document business requirements and rules and translate them into functional specifications for development
  • Works closely with the development team in identifying solutions and resolving design issues .
  • Lead entire software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, configuring, development and unit testing for information worker applications based on Microsoft technologies.
Qualified Candidates will have
  • Capital Markets expereince a must
  • 5 or more years experience writing code with an emphasis on Microsoft.NET Technologies including VB.net, C#, ASP.net, XML, IIS, SQL Server, Java, C, C++, etc. Advanced ability to work with Web-development tools for new applications.
  • Advanced understanding (2 years) of SharePoint.
  • Advanced understanding of RDBMS databases such SQL Server.
  • Advanced understanding of modern software design and development methodologies (e.g., OO).
  • Experience on multiple full release project life cycles. Advanced understanding of modern SCM (software configuration management).
  • Advanced understanding of testing tools and unit test and integration test scripting, and testing methodologies.
  • Knowledge of the features and architectural design of MOSS 2007 and SharePoint2010, Windows SharePoint Services, InfoPath, and Windows Workflow Foundation.
  • Thorough understanding of Enterprise Portals, Collaboration Tools, Enterprise Search, Document & Content Management, and Forms-based Business Process.
  • Completed post secondary education with a majority of course work focused on computer sciences or related experience.
  • Advanced understanding of project methodologies and experience in all stages of a solution development lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Experience with UML techniques
  • Experience with UAT techniques
  • Microsoft developer certifications (MCSD, MCDBA, MCTS) Certified SharePoint Developer, Certified SharePoint Administrator, etc) are desirable, but not required.
  • Other supporting qualifications: BizTalk, InfoPath, Exchange, Office Communications Server, MS SQL Server, MS Active Directory.

  • Highly self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to take requirements and break them down into functional components towards a comprehensive solution.
