Job Description

Our client has a contract opportunity for a Web Content Technical Writer.  The position is located in Ottawa and is to run until March 2013 with a year-long option period to extend until March 2014. The ideal candidate will be expected to work with a multidisciplinary team and will be responsible for rewriting the intranet HR content using a client-centric approach and to ensure consistency in language used.

Qualified Candidates will have
  • Bilingual both oral and written in English and French
  • Possess a valid Canadian Security Clearance at the Enhanced Reliability status or higher
  • At least 1 year of recent (in the last 5 years) experience in working on federal government web projects
  • Experience in consolidating existing web content and writing new web content for federal government clients
  • Experience in applying web usability principles in developing web sites
  • Obtained writing-related training (degree or diploma or certificate program) that includes writing or web content development
  • Experience creating new material (publications, manuals, user guides, newsletters, or web content) or analyzing source material and re-writing/editing it in a concise, effective manner
  • Meeting and communicating with stakeholders to obtain and implement requirements
  • Adhering to web publishing guidelines or standards
  • Meeting with management to gain consensus
  • Experience writing new content and editing existing content for the Web;
  • Developing content layout for a Web page and compliance to the governmental Web-related policies and standards
