Summary:
To help achieve our vision and mandate, we are looking for a leader to provide subject matter expertise and work with the technical team, the business and different service providers in the management and support of Business Intelligence, Information Management, Data Warehouse and ETL activities. The Team Lead – Application Development will report to the Manager, Application Development and will be responsible for providing leadership in the planning, design, development, implementation and support of complete end to end multi-tier systems and Data Warehouse solutions.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Act as Service Line Lead and the single point of contact with the business, support all Business Intelligence and Data Warehouse development, enhancements and operational activities;
  • Identifying and responding to opportunities for providing better service through coordinating delivery with various BTS teams and recommending services that help the business achieve its objectives;
  • Refining the maintenance process to optimize resource utilization, deliver services to meet or exceed the agreed to service level objectives;
  • Planning and negotiating delivery schedules and working out release scope and content with customers and other technical teams;
  • Lead the team in the design, development and maintenance
  • Preparing estimation, cost, timeline and resource requirements for the successful completion of each maintenance release;
  • Preparing maintenance and implementation plans, representing the team in change control board meetings for maintenance releases, coordinating implementation activities and liaising with the business to ensure complete and successful implementation;
  • Monitoring the level of customer satisfaction, at regular intervals or after each release implementation. Tracks service KPIs to drive ongoing improvements in service delivery performance.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, coaching and mentoring the team in a complex and dynamic environment to ensure delivery of quality service within timelines.
  • Conduct regular performance appraisals, identifying skill gaps and ensuring appropriate training is provided when required
  • Provide solutions and recommendations that have potential process automation impact and organization/financial impact.
  • Provide product, technology, non-technical and/or technical support as well as resourceful problem resolution to enable implemented systems to operate smoothly and optimize productivity for clients.
  • Assume responsibility for establishing priorities, providing project plans, implementation plans, standards and procedures for the system components within the area of responsibility.
  • Act as single point of engagement for demand planning and demand management conversations with business partners around their needs for a specific service
  • Partner with internal and external resources such as other team leads and vendors to maintain effective working relationships and achieve desired results.
  • Participate in divisional strategic and tactical planning as well as the development of departmental objectives and budget preparation.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or required
 
Requirements
  • University degree in Computer Science with a minimum 10 years experience in Information Technology design and development.
  • Technical knowledge in Data Warehouse, Business Intelligence, Cognos, DataStage and ETL
  • Knowledge of project management theories and principles to manage and coordinate projects in the area of expertise such as system enhancements/modifications/upgrades.
  • Time management skills in order to direct projects, timelines and multi-task while focusing on initiatives.
  • Analytical and problem solving skills in order to troubleshoot complex issues and problems that may have a direct impact to clients and/or production.
  • 5+ years experience in Oracle (10,11g), MS SQL server and DB2.
  • Experience in Mainframe, AIX, Windows and Linux operating Systems
  • 5+ years experience in IT service delivery, direct business engagement, and multiple technology domains.
  • Previous Team Lead experience
  • Demonstrated experience in a senior technical capacity with leadership abilities in order to provide guidance and to develop, coach and mentor the team in a complex and dynamic environment to ensure delivery of quality service within timelines.
  • Verbal and written communication skills to present ideas to the business and/or BTS management to promote or enhance the delivery and quality of IT services.
  • Interactive skills to effectively build relationships with other teams, internal and external parties in order to handle issues or questions and/or implement common goals.
