Role:
Scope of Work/Deliverables:
Client is seeking WiMAX Business Analysts to provide the business analysis leadership and deliverables needed for the new WiMAX project service introduction.
Reporting to the SMI WiMAX Project Manager, the WiMAX BA will play a key part in ensuring the technology solutions for WiMAX backhaul services are delivered in a manner that meets the architectural, design, deployment, and production turnover requirements of Client and the SMI project. This position will involve working with the SMI metering system vendor, the WAN design team, Client Telecom Engineering, Capgemini PMO team and key CLIENT stakeholder groups to direct the WiMAX network design and deployment taking into consideration CLIENT design priorities, safety, standards, security and contract considerations as appropriate.
 
The scope of work consists of the following:
  • Applying telecommunications engineering knowledge and experience (WiMAX, microwave) in creating, reviewing, updating engineering designs and documentation
  • Assisting with Client Owners Engineer Telecom and Structural Design process
  • Working with engineering design vendors on microwave site structural, foundation and geotechnical analyses and structural design submissions
  • Providing subject matter expertise with RuggedCom / Siemens WiMAX radio and switching hardware
  • Hand’s on use of Mentum Planet Wireless Network Design Planning Software
  • Trouble-shooting and providing subject matter expertise for Kathrein Scala cross polarized omni and sector antennas
  • Submitting Industry Canada 1.8/3.65GHz license and registration processes
 
Requirement or Qualifications:
  • Experience with a network technical audience and able to provide WiMAX subject matter expertise
  • Drafting technical and process driven documentation life-cycle - draft, versioning, review, to final
  • Creating technical content for tenders and work order requests, and evaluate bids;
  • Reviewing contract documents for the provision of telecommunications services and materials
  • Establishing Quality Assurance standards and analyze installations for compliance;identifying deficiencies, and reviewing remediation activities.
  • Lead the installation and commissioning of field equipment; if required
 
Deliverables:
  • WiMAX process work-flows
  • WiMAX system design
  • WiMAX deployment plan
  • WiMAX operational requirements and transfer
  • Other deliverables as required
 
Requirements:
The Business Analyst is expected to have the following demonstrated education, knowledge and experience:
  • Licensed APEGBC P.Eng; or B.Sc. Electrical Engineering degree; or equivalent of education and/or experience
  • Designation of M.Eng., Engineering Science degree or equivalent of education and/or experience.
  • Telecommunications engineering (WiMAX, microwave)
  • Experience working with large electrical utilities in a regulated environment
  • Client Owners Engineer Telecom and Structural Design processes
  • Client Engineering standards
  • Experience with Client ITDSP processes, such as runbooks
  • Experience with Client operational processes and documentation standards including Runbooks, Maintenance Standards, RACI’s and Operating Orders
  • WiMAX site structural, foundation and geotechnical analyses and structural design
  • RuggedCom / Siemens WiMAX radio and switching hardware
  • Mentum Planet Wireless Network Design Planning Software
  • Kathrein Scala cross polarized omni and sector antenna
  • Industry Canada 1.8/3.65GHz license and registration processes
  • Technical and process driven documentation life-cycle - draft, versioning, review, to final
