Role:
We are looking for a solid BSA to understand the business requirements and translate into systems requirements documentation for both business and technology stakeholders. No testing required; however, they support testers and translate the SRS.
This individual will be working within the Microsoft Development Group within WMTS who provides design, development, and support expertise leveraging Microsoft-based technologies. Through a combination of in-house systems development and working with leading technology partners, the team delivers multitier solutions that drive the functions of the business, including:
  • Web and automated application development
  • Data management and reporting services
  • Maintenance and enhancements of existing applications
 
Job Description and Key Activities
The candidate will have the primary responsibility of eliciting, analyzing, validating, specifying, verifying, structuring, documenting and managing the system design and technical needs of a project. The individual will work with, consult, and support various project team members including clients, business analysts, architects, developers, and testers in order to deliver system requirements and assist those project member’s needs.
 
The candidate will:
  • Work with business analysts and/or clients to define the system scope
  • Work with project and delivery managers to estimate effort and duration
  • Elicit requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements, storyboards, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases and scenarios
  • Write requirements specifications according to standard templates, using natural language simply, clearly, unambiguously, and concisely
  • Decompose high-level business and user requirements into functional system requirements at an appropriate level of detail
  • Define quality attributes, external interfaces, constraints, and other nonfunctional requirements
  • Represent requirements using alternative views, such as analysis models (diagrams), prototypes, or scenarios, where appropriate
  • Lead requirements analysis and verification, ensuring that requirement statements are complete, consistent, concise, comprehensible, traceable, feasible, unambiguous, and verifiable, and that they conform to standards
  • Participate in requirements prioritization
  • Participate in peer reviews and inspections of requirements documents
  • Conduct and participate in peer reviews of deliverables derived from requirements specifications to ensure that the requirements were interpreted correctly
  • Manage requirements traceability information and track requirements status throughout the project
  • Manage changes to baselined requirements through effective application of change control processes
  • Establish and implement effective requirements practices, including use and continuous improvement of a requirements process
  • Implement ways to reuse requirements across projects
  • Contribute to support and training documents/material
  • Support developers and testers by providing clarification to system requirements throughout the execution of a project
The candidate will work amongst other team members in our offices located in the heart of the financial district in Downtown Toronto. Work hours are aligned with core banking hours (8:30AM - 5:00PM), Monday through Friday, with some flexibility required to cater to project needs.
 
Requirement or Qualifications:
MUST HAVE:
  • solid BSA and SRS documentation experience
  • understands SDLC and PMLC
  • previous object-oriented development experience, specifically web development
  • User experience design exposure
  • Understanding of distributed and multitier application design and architectural principles
  • Familiarity with software engineering patterns and best practices
  • Financial industry experience
 
Nice to have:
  • Wealth experience
  • Testing

  • Analytical skills to critically evaluate the information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a more general understanding, distinguish presented user requests from the underlying true needs, and distinguish solution ideas from requirements
  • Facilitation skills to lead requirements elicitation sessions
  • Observational skills to validate data obtained via other techniques and expose new areas for elicitation
  • Writing skills to communicate information effectively to customers
  • Organizational skills to work with the vast array of information gathered during elicitation and analysis and to cope with rapidly changing information
  • Interpersonal skills to help negotiate priorities and to resolve conflicts among project resources
  • Modeling skills to represent requirements information in graphical forms that augment textual representations in natural language, including using modeling languages (UML) and tools (Visio).
  • An understanding of contemporary requirements elicitation, analysis, specification, verification, and management practices and the ability to apply them in practice
  • An understanding of how to practice requirements analysis according to various software development life cycles in a team environment
  • Knowledge of product management concepts and how enterprise software products are positioned and developed
