Job Description:

Our client has a requirement for a Structural Engineer for a perm opportunity.  The position is located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Requirement or Qualifications:

Qualified Candidates will have:

BSCE with minimum 5 years experience in transmission design or Associates degree with minimum 7 years experience in transmission design. 

• Proficient with Power Line System Software- PLS CADD, Pole & Tower.
• Ability to work independently and interface with client and contractor organizations. 
• Must be eligible to work in Canada. 
• Candidate must have excellent written and verbal skills. 
• Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Role Overview

• Plans and conducts independent work within global business unit.
• Evaluate, selection, application and adaptation of engineering techniques and procedures.
• Devises new approaches to problem solving.
• Understands standard engineering work planning, scheduling and cost estimating.
• Conducs independent work requiring judgement in the application of engineering techniques.  
• Provide technical direction and assign work to assisting designers and drafters.
• Responsible for producing design drawings and documentation with a high level of technical complexity.
• Perfom transmission line design for short, medium and long transmission lines ranging from 69kV to 500kV.
• Prepare specifications, sag and tension calculations, electrical clearance calculations, conducter sizing and transmission line routing diagrams. 
• Plans and coordinates within client, equipment manufacturers and other departments. 
• Must be knowledgeable in the industry codes and standars and familiar with related construction practice.
