About the Job

Our client has a requirement for a  Websphere Middleware Subject Matter Expert   for a 6 Month Contract opportunity.  The position is located in Mississauga, ON.

We are seeking an IT Specialist to fill a WebSphere Specialist role within the WAS Middleware Team. The IT Specialist works closely with our infrastructure and development technology partners and will be expected to demonstrate an expert understanding of all elements to successfully manage, tune, and resolve issues in complex systems within the bank’s web based environment. The individual is expected to be a self-starter who is willing to take on ownership and leadership of key aspects related to the management of the WAS platform. 

Qualifications

• Mandatory qualifications include excellent communication (both written and oral) and

   interpersonal skills 
• The candidate must be organized, self motivated, as well as a team player and be able

   to participate in the knowledge transfer of information with peers and management 
• The successful applicant must have a solid understanding of Incident, Change, and

   Problem Management methodologies as well as solid experience in a large Production

   environments 
• Mature and professional manner and approach, with the ability to interact with all

   levels within the organization 

Mandatory technical skills include: 

• Minimum 3 years of experience building, deploying and administering WebSphere

  Application Server solutions 
• Expert knowledge of supported technology (IHS Web Server, WebSphere

  Application Server (WAS ND: 6.1, 7.0, 8.0) 
• Knowledge of Unix Shell scripting, WSADMIN scripting including JYTHON 
• Thorough knowledge of UNIX (Linux/Solaris/AIX) operating systems as well as

  Windows. 
• Knowledge of Database technologies (DB2, Oracle or MS SQL Server) 
• Advanced problem determination skills to identify and resolve application server

  problems running on multiple platforms in a large complex environment (AIX, Linux,

  Windows) 
• Comfortable with working in a rapidly changing, technically complex environment 
• Proficiency with MS office product suite (Word, Excel PowerPoint etc.) 
• Experience in designing and deploying infrastructures for web services
