About the Job

Our client has a requirement for a Solution Architect for a 12 Month Contract opportunity.  The position is located in Toronto, ON.

Job Description

The Solutions Architect ensures that systems continue to be well designed and supported. The Solutions Architect works with others to review and validate proposed Solutions requirements and ensures the products developed adhere to company's architectural standards and are supportable.
The Solutions Architect is a multi-dimensional role requiring both deep technical expertise and strong interpersonal, communications and influencing acumen.
The Solutions Architect provides technical oversight for solution development initiatives. Reporting to the Director, Collaborative Solutions and working with the Enterprise Architect and assigned Project Managers, the Solutions Architect is responsible for providing architectural direction (design and technology) as part of the process of developing, customizing, integrating and maintaining systems.
The Solutions Architect maintains a challenging role as a member of the Architecture, Delivery and Project teams.

Specific Responsibilities Include

- Provide expert technical leadership for multiple concurrent projects by: ensuring solutions exhibit
  appropriate compliance to the firm's standards, principles and best practices
- Ensuring solutions fulfill all functional and non-functional requirements
- Leading the design of solutions and solution interfaces
- Identifying architectural risk and mitigating strategies
- Providing consulting and advice to the Project Managers, Business Analysts and Stakeholders regarding technical issues and decisions
- Leading project exercises such as non-functional requirements definition and solution selection
- Create or contribute to architecture deliverables and other required stage-gate documentation, including: Solution Architecture Roadmap; Operational and Support Model
- Client Fit/Impact Analysis, Service and Solution Delivery Agreement, Supplemental Specification (Non-Functional Requirements)   

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field
- Minimum 5 years’ experience progressively advancing experience in IT projects in
  technical roles
- Minimum two (2) years’ experience as a Solutions Architect
- Expertise in .Net Smart Client development using frameworks such as Microsoft Prism
- Expertise in developing offline and online synchronization capabilities for smart client
  applications using frameworks such as Microsoft Synchronization services
- Knowledge of Office customization mainly around Developing Document Level
  customizations for MS Word
- Demonstrated expertise in a broad base of products, technologies, platforms, patterns,
  frameworks, and methodologies including architecting solutions in MS SharePoint, .NET,
  MOSS and portal technologies
- Expertise in application development and the system development lifecycle
- Superior organizational skills with the ability to set priorities, follow-up and meet
  challenging deadlines
- Proven ability to work in a team environment
- Excellent business writing skills
- Ability to display diplomacy and good judgment in resolving problems and answering 
  inquiries
- Ability to work independently in a highly matrixed, extremely busy, varied and diverse
  environment with changing priorities
- Ability to communicate complex and technical concepts clearly with non-technical as well 
  as technical personnel at all levels of the organization
- A high degree of initiative and self-motivation
- The ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives
- A high attention to detail while producing quality work in a timely manner
- Proven ability to coach and mentor team members
- ITIL certification is considered an asset
