Project Manager

Zylog Systems (Canada) Ltd. is currently seeking a Project Manager. This role is multi-faceted, not only requiring project management duties, but also a significant focus on both business analysis and proposal writing.  The Project Manager is responsible for all aspects of planning, monitoring, implementing and controlling processes associated with assigned projects, including the management of teams which may be formed to deliver projects on time and budget, working with key internal and external clients, stakeholders and partners, and building the company’s ability to grow its project management capability. The Project Manager’s duties must be performed consistent with company mission and values and in adherence to company policies and procedures, ISO Standards, and legislative requirements.


Specific Responsibilities & Primary Duties:
The Project Manager will be responsible for the overall direction, co-ordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of specific projects; be responsible for gathering and analyzing business requirements; providing guidance to clients and managing clients’ expectations; and translating requirements into development specifications.  In addition, the Project Manager will be responsible for creating high quality, professional, accurate proposal documentation.  Other key responsibilities include:

·         Work with sales and delivery teams to seek out new business opportunities.
·         Integrate technology, people, and process streams of work on a project.
·         Manage, motivate and lead a project team comprised of both business and IT resources.
·         Prepare and deliver executive presentations and facilitate workshops.
·         Maintain open lines of communication between groups/functional areas/team members.
·         Mentor project team resources by providing feedback and coaching.
·         Lead and drive discussions to gather business and functional requirements for projects.
·         Analyze and document business and functional requirements for projects.
·         Actively participate in end-user support including User Acceptance Testing.
·         Develop and deliver training to staff as necessary to support project delivery.
·         Manage multiple proposals to specified deadlines, deliverables, and budgets.
·         Coordinate all aspects of the creation and submission of proposals, managing multiple cross-functional teams toward successful proposal completion:
·         technical and pricing components for bids
·         drafting of proposal documents
·         risk management
·         communications management
·         reviews with company management
·         status updates, etc.
·         Research and evaluate new technologies specific to proposal management.
·         Identify and schedule proposal deliverables, milestones, and required tasks.
·         Adhere to standards and procedures for proposal reporting and documentation.
·         Review status reports and modify schedules and plans as required.
·         Contribute to the development of business processes and procedures that ensure proposal  
·         work meets all bid activity requirements.
·         Develop and maintain technical and administrative documentation for proposals


Minimum Requirements and Qualifications:
The Project Manager will have:

·         A Bachelor’s Degree in IT, Business Management or a related field
·         A minimum of 5 to 7 years of IT Project Management
·         Prior experience in coordinating proposal efforts, preferably for high tech companies; knowledge of the government proposal environment
·         Experience managing multiple business/technology projects from strategy to implementation using a disciplined approach to project management
·         Ability to prioritize and delegate appropriately and deal with changing priorities and tight deadlines
·         Ability to comprehend and articulate technical concepts in easily understood terms
·         Experience in System Development and Project Management methodologies, including Agile, Waterfall and RUP, with the ability to apply them in a flexible manner based on project requirements
·         A minimum of 2 years experience in the analysis and documentation of business and functional requirements for projects
·         2 - 4 years experience performing the business analysis function.
·         Knowledge of object oriented design and use of USE cases in business requirements
·         Excellent people management skills
·         Experience working with, leading and managing teams
·         Executive presence, including strong presentation and facilitation skills
·         Full proficiency in the use of Word, Excel, MS Project and other PM tools required.
·         Preferably a PMP designation or advanced progress in achieving certification
·         Ability to travel as required.
