Lab Ops Technician

POSITION DESCRIPTION
Responsible for the assembly and/or modification of a variety of printed circuit boards or other electronic or mechanical assemblies meeting company quality and performance standards.  The successful candidate will be required to use and maintain a wide variety of hand tools, fixtures and equipment to achieve the assigned task.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ability to perform fine pitch SMT printed circuit board assembly, repair, and modification.  Finished work must meet IPC-A-610 acceptability specifications
  • Operates and interprets general test equipment, such as oscilloscopes, digital multi-meters, special to type instrumentation.
  • Performs calibration and tuning on units and sub-assemblies & software/firmware downloading. 
  • Performs basic fault diagnostics of test equipment.
  • Troubleshoots circuits of a simple to most complex nature, from system to component level, using knowledge of complex technical data (i.e. difficult to analyze, understand or solve, such as printed circuit board density, software and code functionality, smart chips etc.) 
  • Identifies root cause of issues and provides recommended solutions to resolve technical difficulties.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and evaluate engineering drawings and schematics to assess manufacturability of devices and  provide solutions to problems
  • Ability to perform work using a microscope.
  • Knowledge of ESD 20.20 standard.
  • Ability to operate all forms of hand tools to fabricate mechanical components.
  • Ability to operate electronic test equipment.
  • Accountable for completion of work orders on time.
  • Completes assigned tasks within expected productivity outputs.
  • Communicate, prioritize and multitasks to achieve team goals.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
  • Requires a two year Community College Electronics Technician Diploma
  • 3 to 5 years experience.
OTHER

Applicants will be required to obtain/hold a Canadian security clearance to the level of Enhanced Reliability in order to have access to secure labs, information and equipment in order to perform the work associated with this position.
