Junior/Intermediate Software Engineer – Development Services

Job Description:
Under the supervision of the Development Services Team Lead, the successful candidate will hold a junior role, applying engineering knowledge and techniques to support activities for the C3ISS Business Area.  Junior Engineer/Specialist is the entry level position for a graduate engineer or equivalent with limited or no practical experience.  A junior works under the close supervision of a more experienced engineer and demonstrates a desire and capability to learn and improve in the given area.

Responsibilities:
  • Set-up build environment, infrastructure and scripts.
  • Prepare documents in support of the builds.
  • Perform sanity/white box tests on the products.
  • Perform Bugzilla and CVS maintenance activities.
  • Hardware product maintenance support like unit assembly/disassembly with testing.
  • Participate in integrated team activities with System Engineering, Development and System Integration.
  • Apply engineering techniques, tools and knowledge in support of effective build activities.
  • Solve problems by parsing the problem, examining options, gathering appropriate data and performing analytical assessments.
  • Conduct himself/herself professionally in all meetings, activities and when included in customer attended events.
  • All other duties as required

Education/Training:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Computer Science or related technical/scientific degree

Experience:
  • Able to apply problem solving skills to daily activities.
  • Strong communications abilities, both written and verbal.
  • Willing to learn and grow in knowledge area.
  • Knowledge of servers and Unix would be an asset.

Other:
Applicants will be required to obtain/hold a valid and current Canadian security clearance to gain access to the classified spaces, information and equipment in order to perform the work associated with this position which requires a minimum 5 year consecutive residence in Canada.
