About the Job

Our client has a requirement for a Security Specialist for a 3 Month Contract opportunity.  The position is located in Mississauga, ON.

Role

The Security Specialist will be working on the Remediation Action Items project, enhancing the Unix / Linux security practices and technology. The position is within the Unix Engineering Security and Compliance team and the Security Specialist requires experience with Unix security, specifically as it pertains to a large financial organization with multi layered regulatory control requirements. The ideal candidate would also possess Unix scripting skills to enhance and automate manual control processes.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include:
  • Providing vision and leadership for developing and supporting security initiatives.
  • Directing the planning and implementation of enterprise IT system, business operation, and facility defenses against security breaches and vulnerability issues.
  • Auditing existing systems, while directing the administration of security policies, activities, and standards.
  • Directing and applying control systems to prevent error, abuse, fraud, etc.
  • Taking full responsibility for minimizing disaster threat effects and for recovery.
  • Raising awareness of all levels of the organization regarding security practices.
  • Aligning the security policy with policies and plans of the organization.
  • Constantly reviewing procedures for security failings and disaster recovery.
  • Originating/maintaining security policies and strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with security plans/standards.
  • Managing risk analysis, disaster recovery, planning and event simulation
Requirements or Qualifications

Qualified Candidates will have:
  • CISSP certification
  • 6+ years experience with Korn Shell
  • 6+ years leadership experience
  • 6+ years experience with PERL Scripting
  • 6+ years experience with Security Policy Administration
  • 6+ years experience with Security System Audit
  • 6+ years experience with UNIX Security
  • 6+ years experience with UNIX System Administration
  • Strong documentation skills
