About the Job

Our client has a requirement for an Intermediate Oracle Development DBA for a six month contract opportunity.  The position is located in Toronto.

Role

The Development DBA designs secure databases that provide high performance for business applications.

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will work as a Development Database Administrator (Intermediate Oracle DBA) assisting the Senior Development Database Administrator with the design, development, implementation, and maintenance/support of application databases. This individual will also be accountable for the completion of project deliverables.

Responsibilities will include:

• Performs various database administration functions (including installation of database software, license management, creation/modification of database servers, account set-up, maintenance, access, and permissions) in order to support project demands
• Creates/maintains database and operational documentation according to unit standards in order to capture current knowledge (e.g., new business data definitions, Design decisions, and Production procedures)
• Provides technical support and mentoring to database team members in order to foster professional development
• Develops/improves database standards in order to provide optimum maintenance and consistency across applications
• Performs database and application tuning and capacity planning in order to verify that the business requirements are met within the Service Level Agreement (SLA)

Requirements or Qualifications

Qualified Candidates will have:

• Must have 2 to 4 years of systems analysis & database experience with Oracle 9i/10g/11g & MS SQL Server 2005/2008.
• Demonstrates good knowledge of PL/SQL & T-SQL.
• Possesses good understanding of business requirements and the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Possesses good understanding of database design and development methodology
• Demonstrates understanding of relevant and emerging database technologies and tools.
• Possesses a university degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering or Software Engineering or Computer Engineering or Math (computer science stream) or Physics (computer science stream).
