Job Description:

Our client is looking for a Project Manager/Leader for a 6 month contract. This position is located in downtown Toronto.

The Project Manager will be required to provide consulting services to manage the project management tasks associated with key cluster projects. The consultant will operate within the approved project management methodology to manage and trouble shoot assigned projects within the portfolio and additional new client and internal projects as required.

Responsibilities include:

  • Working per the Project Management life cycle to provide cluster clients with assistance in identifying and defining the high level parameters of a project.
  • Project management and troubleshooting during each of the 5 phases of the project life cycle (initiation, planning, execution, control and closure).
  • Accountability for all project documentation and updates including project charter, scope statement, risk management plan, change management plan, schedule (including Gantt Chart), communications plan, quality management plan and procurement plan.
  • Documentation of project lessons learned and the recording and archival of documentation upon project conclusion.

Specific Deliverables for all projects include:
  • Project initiation including development of charter, scope statement and estimates of schedule and cost.
  • Project planning, including blueprint development and solutions acceptance process facilitation.
  • Project execution and control, including interaction with key stakeholders and customers, status reporting, communications, schedule management, quality management, risk management etc.
  • Project close out, including server acceptance process facilitation, service activation tasks and completion of post project review and client satisfaction surveys.

Additional Duties:
  • Complete work and deliver the deliverables/milestones within the assigned or promised deadline;
  • Submit deliverables for the approval as they are completed;
  • Comply with the Government security procedures and practices;
  • Comply with the Government architecture/technology standards and best-practices;
  • Provide knowledge and skill transfer to the project staff where appropriate;
Qualifications Required:
  •  The Project Manager should have significant experience managing large infrastructure projects (data centres, servers, SAN’s networks).
  • Knowledge of project management tools, including MS Project, Basys, or equivalents
  • Demonstrated experience providing project management of large scale, complex, high profile and high risk.
  • Demonstrated project management expertise to develop project charter, change requests, and proven ability to create and manage the integrated project plan and all component documents.
  • Extensive working knowledge with Project Management Institute (PMI), standard Project management/portfolio management methods.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop complex project budgets based on multiple funding channels and cross ministry dependencies.
  • Strong knowledge of OPS technologies, industry trends and offerings to administer modern project deliverables and to resolve technical issues.
  • Excellent negotiation and collaboration and communication of project deliverables.
  • Demonstrate analytical and problem solving skills to resolve multi-dimensional problems and issues and to provide advice and solutions
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for teambuilding exercises within the project team.
  • Experience handing broad and often complex, communication for internal and external audiences from all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated experience identifying and communicating potential risks to senior executives and recommend mitigation strategies to decision makers.
  • Experience identifying, monitoring and managing issues through to resolution.
  • Change management skills to implement appropriate strategies and actions to overcome resistance to change.
  • Strong resource management skills to direct large project teams, including on-boarding of team members, planning and prioritizing tasks, coaching and team building.
  • Strong leadership skills to provide direction and leadership for large teams of the highest-level technical project personnel from the various IT jobs, including setting priorities, scheduling, monitoring and reporting on technical performance, providing technical training, advice, coaching and development.
  • Experience providing project, program and/or portfolio reporting to multi-stakeholders at senior executive levels.
