About the Job

Our client has a requirement for a Senior Project Manager for a 6 Month Contract opportunity.  The position is located in Toronto, ON.

Role

Our client is looking for a Sr. IT Project Manager for the Watchlist Upgrade project. The candidate should have experience in managing multiple work streams and medium to large projects. In particular, a candidate that has some experience/exposure or knowledge with Compliance or Regulatory work space (i.e., AML, Risk) is preferred.
The ideal candidate would also have experience in leading application changes.

The Senior Project Manager would also manage a number of direct reports including a Technology Manager, Deployment Manager and Testing Manager and will work directly with the Business Project Manager and various other stakeholders. The Watchlist project is multi-phased project with multiple streams and includes both the bank’s Canadian & US businesses. Experience in managing projects subject to heavy regulatory demands is an asset. 

Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include:
  • Planning, coordinating and supervising complex informatics assignments.
  • Designing and applying new methods and procedures.
  • Coordinating systems development for major applications, defining project requirements including information and data needs, business analysis and programming.
  • Developing, planning, analyzing, evaluating and assigning priorities to deliverables and requirements.
  •  Defining project phases, setting deadlines and managing staff.
  • Developing project plans with milestones.
  • Coordinating all meetings and interfaces with business units, staff and service providers. 
  • Being responsible for the oversight and execution of multiple projects and project managers.
  • Being accountable for managing broad and highly complex teams and projects involving significant scope and complexity. 
  • Setting direction at an operational level, working autonomously in the management of the unit and collaborating with other business heads to establish and execute on common goals. 
  • Directing or managing large-scale applications, programs or projects across multiple product lines, involving significant scope and complexity.
  • Ensuring delivery of projects to the business partner, meeting the approved scope/cost/schedule/quality for the project. 
  • Performing a governing role for, ensuring that the proposal, execution, control, deployment, training and hand off, warranty support, and closure meet promised schedules. 
  • Performing risk identification and mitigation activities, escalating unresolved issues to the Executive and / or Steering Committee where appropriate to secure their timely decisions/support.
  • Managing the acquisition and deployment of resources, including budget, by working with the Project Managers to secure the resources required for the project. 
  • Ensuring client satisfaction with the project process and project team by effective and timely communication including status reporting, continual risk/issue assessment/management and escalation, and resolution of issues as they arise. 
  • Working with and influencing senior level leaders and partnering with other IT Managers.
Requirements or Qualifications

Qualified Candidates will have:
  • 10+ years IT PM experience working with multiple work streams and large projects 
  • PMP certification  
  • The ability to work independently 
  • Experience with Compliance or Regulatory (AML, Risk) is an asset
