Our client has a requirement for an RF Technical Specialist for a 4 month contract opportunity. The position is located in Toronto.

Role:
Working for the Store Technology Services team, of a major Canadian retailer you will be responsible for the delivery, maintenance and support of the technology operations for the client’s stores as well as Home Office lab. The technology that is supported within the environments includes front-end Point of Sale systems (Wintel) and back-end Inventory Management systems (i5 midrange), in-store wireless (RF) as well as the many peripheral devices that are attached to and support these systems.
The Technical Specialist will report directly to the Manager, will be assigned to projects and be responsible for design, configuration and deployment of RF technology. The candidate will define the technical requirements as well as review proposed systems changes, performance, documentation, training and system quality assurance.
Responsibilities:
- Provide RF technical subject matter expertise to projects and other teams
- Participate in design of retail RF solutions
- Implement RF technology into labs and retail environments
- Provide after-hours support as required by projects; may be required to carry a pager on a rotational basis.
Requirement or Qualifications:
- 3 to 10 years experience implementing and supporting RF technology within a retail environment
- Knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, FTP
- Motorola Wing technology as well as RFMS and MSP
- Windows Server 2003, Windows CE in a production environment
- Information security and its role in a production environment
- Project management experience is an asset
- Strong consulting and advisory skills, with a demonstrated ability to lead, respond to change and solve problems
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with a demonstrated ability to work effectively within both the business and technical arenas and in a team environment
- Excellent analytical skills, able to manage multiple deliverables under strict timelines, work well in a demanding dynamic environment and maintain a balance of priorities
- Demonstrated aptitude for continuous learning and innovative thinking
- High degree of initiative, dependability and ability to work with little supervision.
