Job Description:
Our client has a requirement for Intermediate Business Analyst for 6 months renewable contract opportunity. The position is located in Calgary.
This Business System Analyst position reports to the manager of Business Systems. This position will primarily provide business operational support, problem resolution and conduct analysis or trending as requested. The successful candidate will:
- Develop an understanding of budget and forecasting capabilities in the Cost Management systems and associated processes
- Perform day-to-day support functions and / or process assistance in the Cost Management domain
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of routine business management processes
- Execute problem management best practices while providing timely response, resolution and communication to customers
- Respond to requests for data and information.
Responsibilities include:
- Business support for Cognos Planning models in support of Client’s forecasting and budgeting cycles
- Investigation and resolution of end user problems, inquiries and performance issues
- Assignment and escalation of requests to appropriate resources for resolution (second level support)
- Development or execution of Cognos Planning models and/or MS Excel reports
- Providing input into recommendations for changes to standard procedures or processes
- Provides training and system access to end users
- Provides technical help in system testing and reconfigurations
- Documentation of processes

Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of Cognos Planning
- Strong verbal and written skills
- Excellent customer service and collaboration skills
- Proficient in MS Office applications with particular emphasis on Excel and some reporting tools
- Ability to understand and analyze both business and technical issues to resolve business problems
- Ability to meet tight deadlines, service level agreements
- Excellent organization, time management and prioritization skills
